https://www.youtube.com/shorts/P8sz0ZY7eUU
  Comments:
Encountered 黒子 in the wild. Various entries are inconsistent with beauty mark vs. spot, the former seems more common, both seem fine to me in AmE.

I'm having a hard time finding any use of the [ok] readings outside of the kokugo entry itself. Google books turned up an interesting ref suggesting ははくろ, at least, is quite an old term indeed...
「ははくろ」が、長い間に「ほくろ」と形を変えたものでしょう. ははくそ, ははくろ, and ほくそ seem possibly useful today only as etymology.

Suggest splitting med/col senses the same way we did for 脇芽. I misspoke on another entry saying こくし was [ok] here. Still, it is quite a bit rarer than the ngrams suggest, and maybe only appears as a medical term. A couple of refs at least support this, and sankoku does not have こくし at all.

====
As a complete aside, I am wondering if Japan even has the "beauty mark" concept, which raises interesting glossing questions.

I found "モテるほくろ", which seems to be a bit of a neologism. And this interesting headline (suggesting the answer to my question is "no"):
フランスでは、ホクロは美しさを引き立てるための道具だ。

I've found this link above which amongst various meaning for どんびき it gives "turnoff", "cringe at", "gross".
examples from the link:
(turnoff) : この温泉はとても汚いです。ドン引き! >> This hot spring is so dirty. What a turnoff!!
(cringe at) : 彼の攻撃的な言葉に私たちはいつもドン引きさせられます。>> His offensive language always makes us cringe.
(gross) : 彼の部屋でたくさんのゴキブリを見たのですか?ドン引きですね。>> You saw a lot of cockroaches in his room? That’s gross.

I don't know about the reliability of this reference, so instead of suggesting a change I'll just leave this here as "data" for others to decide.

Melasma is a common skin problem caused by brown to gray-brown patches on the face. Most people get it on their cheeks, chin, nose bridge, forehead, and above the upper lip.

https://www.osmosis.org/answers/chloasma
Chloasma, more commonly known as melasma, is an acquired pigmentary disorder of the skin, characterized by areas of discoloration known as hyperpigmentation.

"Melasma is an entirely different condition. "

An analogous Japanese website distinguishing 老人性色素斑 from 肝斑. Causes are different, treatments are different, and treating for the wrong one may exacerbate the other.

  Comments:
"chloasma" is a correct gloss. "liver spot" is not a synonym for "chloasma" in English. This has to be the strangest false-cognate (肝+斑 != liver spot) I have ever seen.

Correct matches for "liver spots" are the two terms I just added: 老人性色素斑 and 日光性黒子 (and maybe others, but not this).

I came to this entry when checking the フラスタ submission. I see that フラワースタンド usually means a structure for holding flowers, pot plants, etc. However, it's also used for a tall flower arrangement for ceremonial occasions, hence the proposed second sense.
From the hits and images for フラスタ it seems that (abbreviation) is almost always used for the arrangements.
I'll approve for an xref then reopen.

Not in any Japanese dictionaries. We have 「前を隠す」 (to cover one's private parts), so the meaning isn't implausible, but I struggle to find usage of this that isn't just an inflection of 前隠す, rather than a "genital covering".

I made this comment on the フラワースタンド entry:
I came to this entry when checking the フラスタ submission. I see that フラワースタンド usually means a structure for holding flowers, pot plants, etc. However, it's also used for a tall flower arrangement for ceremonial occasions, hence the proposed second sense.
From the hits and images for フラスタ it seems that (abbreviation) is almost always used for the arrangements. I could be wrong, so please check.

Wikip: 2013年に名前を「友紀夫(読み同じ)」に改めた(本名は由紀夫のまま)。メディア出演時に「ペンネーム」として使用している。ただしニュース記事などでは「由紀夫」表記が使われることが依然として多い。2023年現在、本人の公式ウェブサイトのページタイトルは「鳩山由紀夫」の表記で、Twitterのプロフィールでも「由紀夫」の表記を併記している。
