Comments: | 複合動詞 can be a bit difficult in deciding whether to lexicalize or not, as they can be very compositional. JJ dictionaries often ignore them, but JEs tend to have more as it can help learners. In general the criteria I have used have been (a) is it very common? If you look at the ranked list via http://www.edrdg.org/~jwb/compv/ you'll see that even the kokugos have the very common ones. (b) is it at all idiomatic? In this case it's the "excessive" sense of 過ぎる which we have as #6. I could imagine a beginner puzzling over "pass through heavy", which is why I think it's worth listing. |
