On balance I don't think we need a second sense. If Daijisen for instance had "また、その人" (instead of just ending with -状態) then sure, I'd assume they had a good case for it, but I'm not really convinced by the examples provided alone (esp. as most of them could be read as 状態 rather than 人) that this is more than just typical Japanese "noun fluidity".

  Comments:
For some examples, search "あの老害", or the combination... "老害" "免許" (lots of "take their licenses away" commentaries).

Apparently, this can be used as an identifier for specific elders, and in this context is derogatory.

Seems like it can be an intensifier for other insults, such as 老害クソババア. Even found a "老害クソ頑固ジジイ". I think this warrants a second sense for the [derog] application. Marked [adj-f] as it seems to grammatically work like "fucking" in English. "老害社長"、老害部長, have plenty of matches, for example.

I don't necessarily mean "senile" in the literal sense, though it seems this nuance does apply to 老害. But as [sl][derog], "senile" is a fairly effective term in English for insulting the elderly. あの老害 = "that senile old man" seems about right from what I have seen... ("senile old person" would be a definition, not a gloss, as this is no longer an insult).

I see looking back that GG5 specifically gives "(senile)". It seems the implication is probably there, even if impolite.

I'm suggesting this correction because the current meaning can be misinterpreted as the cat starting off with two tails (as some sort of birth defect), which instead are a result of the transformation of an old cat into a Nekomata. When the cat transforms (because of old age), then the tail splits. Also the current meaning could be interpreted as the already Nekomata (because of the two tails mentioned before) being able to further transform itself into a terrifying creature, but I haven't found any reference for that in the japanese wikipedia page in the section about the "house cat Nekomata". All I've found is that it either deceives (老いたネコは『猫股』となって人を惑わす) or brings harm to humans (飼い猫も年を経ると化けて人を食ったりさらったりする).

It's a significantly higher proportion if you include には忍びない (essentially the same form). I think "often" is fine. We only use "sometimes" notes for variant forms/kanji/etc. I suspect that に(は)忍びない dominates in literature. In Aozora, it accounts for 79% of 忍びない usage.

  Comments:
Clone of xref, + "to be on the same page".

I think these are roughly synonymous. Other form is more common.

Not clear to me yet if the difference between を and が implies different formulations:
"to be in step with" "to be keeping pace with" "to be moving in lockstep" "to be in alignment with" (and in the other direction, "to get on the same page")

I won't try to solve this one.

足並みが揃う has an entry has an entry in jmdict as negation(which is where I started), and which I am going to go vote to delete.

We have "excellence" as a gloss for 優, so it's probably not good to reuse it here.

The lack of quality references for this word is concerning. Not sure we need entries for rare and possibly nonstandard constructions like this. Our entry for 最 already has a [prefix] sense.

Wikipedia says a seed company used to market a flower under the name "North Pole," which might be why there are so many counts in the google corpus. A web search for "ノースポール" shows mostly flowers.
