Comments: | Super useful to learn this as a set with the underlying term(and the xref is [ichi1,news1,nf10], which suggests why this fairly unusual reduplication is in somewhat-common use). I was suspicious of the POS differences with the xref and looked pretty hard at this, but what we had seems fairly correct, even if some usage is uncommon. [n] at least seems droppable here. There are a couple of very old google book results with a few phrases that might be "pure" [n] usage, ("明々白々を容れず" from a 1904 book on Descartes...), but these are extremely limited. |

Refs: | daij https://www.timeout.com/tokyo/nightlife/tokyo-cabaret-pubs Exorbitant prices and the fear of finding yourself in an abysmally seedy strip club by accident put many people off cabaret clubs. However, head to the right places and you’re in for a night of titillating adventure. In Japan, these venues are known as ‘show pubs’ and mix laughter-inducing acts with sultry dances. As opposed to burlesque clubs, show pubs are a more casual affair, offering food and drinks to accompany the performances. You can opt to have a meal in front of the stage or sip on a martini as you watch awe-inspiring shows late into the night. |

Comments: | ちっさ might see a bit of a renaissance here... If you google it you'll get a mountain of pictures of one character from the popular anime Frieren. She says it at a comical moment (using magic to see through a man's clothing...). But Frieren didn't invent it. Funny the relationship between ちっさい (I just added this)、小さな and ちっさ. Various online comments claim ちっさ is an [abbr] of ちっさい, which may be true. But that doesn't seem to change the fact that this has also turned it into [adj-na], in parallel with 小さな (which looks a lot like 小さ[adj-na] with an obligatory な, where the stand-alone term must become 小さい... But ちっさ can stand alone.). The usage was a simple exclamation "it's small". Is this an [abbr] of [adj-i], or is this [adj-na]. Or both. Or maybe it's a parallel derivation (shortening of ちっさい, an emphatic form of ちいさな). Whatever the case... |
