I don't think the fan fiction meaning is used in Japanese. The "スラッシュ (フィクション)" Wikipedia article is just a translation of the English version. Pixiv describes the term as a "欧米における総称".

As I would understand that, it means "a frog started to croak"

"蛙が鳴き出す" is the equivalent to the main entry above for the animal world and I am wondering if there is any reason for it not being included or for my not being able to find it.

It does not get as many Google hits as the main entry above, but it gets the odd 80k on my search.

I think I have to edit this twice for the xrefs with "5".

Could do (esp. of English), but in any case these aren't universally basic sentence structures.  They are specific to English sentences (and maybe coincidentally related languages, but this is Japan, so...).

Is this [ling] or [gramm].  Since I'm here, I'd say gramm, as the is applied textbook material.

５文型 is objectively more common and seems to stand alone in context(including as a book title, 1st ref).

I would argue that the old gloss is [lit], but that the meaning is actually identical to the xref.

Of course "５文型" could refer to any 5 sentence structures in any language in an appropriate context... But they would be unlikely to be SV, SVC, SVO, SVOO, SVOC.
