Comments: | added "to make available" for the meaning "役立てる(状態にしておく)" found in shinmeikai. kenkyuusha has an example sentence with that translation: ・"一般の縦覧に供する open sth to the public; place [put] sth on show; make sth available for public viewing" also on kenkyuusha, this two other sentence: ・薬用に供する use 《a herb》 as a ┏medicine [remedy] 《for…》; use sth for medicinal purposes ・実験に供する experiment on…; use sth for ┏an experiment [experimental purposes]. should a meaning like "to put to use" be added? I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding the translations or... I leave that judgement in the hands of someone more experienced. |

Comments: | GG5, daijs and koj have とうみょう as the headword, not treating it as a Chinese loanword. Daijr, meikyo and KOD also have トウミャウ, which more closely resembles the Chinese pronunciation but gets next to no use. I suggest dropping the lscr tag (or alternatively moving it to a separate トウミャウ entry that points here). |

Comments: | I don't think GitHub-related slang belongs here. We have some platform/service-specific terms in jmdict but they're all much more common than this. There's another slang meaning: "to write 'wwwww'" (representing laughter). I see this quite frequently but I'm not sure it's worth an entry given that we already have a "LOL; haha" sense for 草. |

Comments: | It appears that the more literal meanings of this expression are more common than the figurative one proposed. I think the proposed entry needs reworking to reflect that. Also I think an entry like this needs more than a single WWW page in support. |

|
Comments: | I used the entries for 39 and 88 as models. This appears to be completely verbal, and conjugate completely as 殺す with 殺 replaced by 56 (see ref. 2). Ran into this on working on a video-game project. Searched for the known video-game-trailer line 神を殺すことができるのは神だけなのだ, and ran into the 1st ref, a blog post, with the correct line but written as: 神を56すことが出来るのは. So I knew immediately what it meant. Found confirmation (second ref.) I suspect this is from 五 = ご・こ + 六=ろく = (ころ)す。 An apparent attempt to avoid using the oft-banned/demonetized word "kill". In many cases in the wild the meaning is completely non-obvious (this is by design), so I think an entry indicating "56 = kill" is quite useful. |
