Comments: | I think this will struggle to become an entry. バスケットケース can be found on WWW pages but usually referring to the cult film of that name. It's also the name of a song by an American rock band. I can't find it actually being used to refer to a basket. I think we'd need a number of examples of that use. |

Comments: | Japanese friend is piano shopping. Ran into this online, very very common for pianos. References and image results agree: essentially exclusive to pianos. We do have 試奏(しそう) We do not have 試し弾き (ためしびき), maybe will come back to add.. 試奏 seems generic for most any instrument. 試し弾き seems valid for any stringed instrument at least (esp. guitars come up) I would not have bothered with [2] on its own. Happens to appear in some refs. Not in sankoku. 銃を試弾 0 0.0% 砲を試弾 0 0.0% Note: 供試 きょうし 1. (product) under testing "試弾" alone is hard to find, but 供試弾 sometimes appears (projectile/bullet under testing). That does NOT seem to me to a use of [2]. Wouldn't mind omitting [2] at all. |
