|
Comments: | The most popular usage of this word refers exactly to the cloth being wrapped around the chest of a woman (or the belly of a man), as suggested overwhelmingly by a Google Image search of either "sarashi" or "さらし". While the word fundamentally refers to the cloth itself, a nice definition is incomplete without an explicit reference to this particular garment. There could also be a cross-reference to 腹巻き; however, that word refers to the male usage. "さらし" is used perhaps as a euphemism for the more on-the-nose female "むねつぶし" (no entry in JMDict) (for modern clothing "sports bra" is more common). |

Comments: | That was my initial thought as well but it appears that the word スプレッドシート isn't nearly as common in Japanese as "spreadsheet" is in English. The usual terms are 表計算ソフト (when referring to the software) and シート (when referring to an individual document). All the top web hits for スプレッドシート are Google Sheets-related. In that YouTube title, スプシ refers to Google Sheets. I'm not convinced this is a general abbreviation for "spreadsheet". |

Comments: | We could add "esp. Google Sheets", but I find it hard to believe that it's never a more general abbreviation of スプレッドシート. In fact, I noticed a YouTube clip labelled: "ChatGPTをExcel(スプシ)連携してリサーチ業務を自動化する使い方..." |

Comments: | In those links, it's actually used as an abbreviation for Googleスプレッドシート (Google Sheets). Can it refer to spreadsheets more generally? I'm not seeing Excel in any of the top web results. |
