About half the ~40 sentences were for sense 4. I've made them sense 5, but maybe that sense should be higher.

Nobody else splits "paternal blood;lineage" from "progeny" and some even have "sperm" in with one or two of those meanings but I thought it would be weird to combine them all. But maybe somebody else can come up with something better that works with just 2 senses.

the "cause/source" sense ended up being moved from 4 to 5 - I tried my best to keep it as it was but since I think the 3 closely related senses (3,4,5) should come together, I had to nudge it.  (but if somebody else can reduce 3,4,5 to 2 senses instead of 3, it won't move).

I removed "kind, variety, quality, tone" glosses that were in sense 1entirely, not really sure where they came from.

録 is read ろく so this is either a new word or it's what some IMEs spit out when you mistype にゅうりょく as にゅうろく. I suspect it's the latter.

OK, closing. I now check the file daily and report any instances of those odd characters.

Preceding the 石作り which Robin added in January were two other characters: &#65279. They are the Unicode 'ZERO WIDTH NO-BREAK SPACE' (U+FEFF)', and are probably coming from a cut-paste operation that has picked up the 16-bit Unicode BOM marker (U+FEFF) as though it were a real character. I need to discuss with Stuart the possibility of stopping these from getting into the database.

I didn't xref this otherwise popular term from 処女 because I thought the gloss was hard to reason about... "virgin soil" was maybe not technically wrong, but it's not an overly familiar term to me in this context.  Seemed overly literal.  Reverso has a bunch of entries for "virgin land", but I didn't look at how many were J->E vs E->J. "virgin territory" was on one entry.

"virgin territory" has the nice property of being a nice gloss for [2] as well, I think. I would have put "virgin territory" as the first entry in [1], but it looks nicer lined up with [2]...

True, the JEs just have one sense too. However, it's what's used in Japanese when referring to droplets and the EJs give it for droplets. Since they are different things in English (we wouldn't say "spray infection" for 飛沫感染) I think they're best not put into the one sense.

In daijs, unfortunately.

Google returns basically nothing but some dictionary entries.  Almost nonexistent on twitter.
Maybe the rarest term I've yet seen, and can be literally constructed from the meanings of 利かす and 粋 if someone so desires.  

Should be no less valid than 粋を利かせる, with latter not having an entry here because it doesn't have a dedicated dictionary entry.  (I'm currently matching up 利かす and 利かせる entries). I won't try and create 粋を利かせる, but it's a small inconsistency/distraction to have one entry without the other.

Doesn't refer to the couple itself. I don't have any suggestions for how it should be glossed.
Without JEs or contemporary examples to refer to, I feel we're a bit in the dark when it comes to glossing archaic terms like this. Relying on definitions alone will inevitably lead to inaccurate glosses in some cases. It's one of the reasons I'd rather we didn't accept archaic terms as a general rule.
I don't think an entry like this has much value.
