New/old kanji pairs such as 楽・樂 are fairly well documented, so it's not much trouble for developers to programmatically add those forms as search keys to their apps if they wish to do so. We could also write a program to add them all automatically to all entries in the JMdict database. This has been discussed in the past, but I don't think there was a lot of enthusiasm for the idea.

Yes, the English terminology is confusing and indeed we can't get encyclopedic. I think the glosses for 負極 and 正極 are about as good as we can get. People digging more deeply can see Hendrick's useful comments.

Unfortunately it is not as simple as I had thought: I have a background in electronics, and there the anode (both in a vacuum tube or a semiconductor diode) is positive and the cathode negative (see also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anode, sections "vacuum tube anode" and "diode anode). So I checked into this matter and found out that in an electrolytic cell (part of a battery), the anode can be either positive or negative depending on whether the cell is charging or discharging. So one could say (as a first approximation) that an anode is the positive terminal in a device to which an external voltage is applied to make same device work, while it is the negative termincal in a device that causes or produces a voltage. Anyway, we always run up against the limitations of a dictionary that cannot be an encyclopedia. :)

The JEs have separate entries for 棺/かん and 柩/ひつぎ. Unidic has 棺 read both ways. A couple of refs point 柩/ひつぎ to 棺/かん. GG6 used kana in its example for 柩/ひつぎ.

i don't agree with this logic
even if くだん is roughly as or more frequent than 件/くだん, you're still not gonna bump into it often
which is why a 件の entry would be helpful (and many dictionaries already have it)
given how frequent 件/けん is, people misreading a 件(/けん)の as 件(/くだん)の is unlikely
imo it's more beneficial to have this entry than not

I've added どうせじきに to a special kana-only glossary used by the glossing system to help resolve parsing issue. This can now go.

We have an entry for じきに【直に】. If the text glosser is pulling glosses for じき【自棄】, I don't think that's the fault of the jmdict data.

At 2858314, Robin said "We don't use abbr for acronyms/initialisms that come from English", but maybe we're inconsistent about it.

I wonder about the capitalization of the romaji for "kiloliter". The kokugos in their 「キロリットル」 entries say 「記号 kl」. jawiki has it as "kL". We have  「ｋｇ 」 at 2859360.

I don't remember if we have a policy against using [abbr] with initialisms, but it looks like we're currently using the tag in many such entries.
Daijisen calls it a 略.

Daijirin has ＫＬ with 'Kiloliter' and 'KLM-Royal Dutch Airlines' meanings.
