  Comments:
The wikipedia entry for 芸能人 literally asserts that English doesn't not have a single word that captures the broad nuances of this term...

As a practical matter though, it seems that "entertainer" (as in "entertainment industry") and "celebrity" are both more widely used as glosses than "performer". eijiro doesn't even carry "performer".

As "entertainer" and "performer" are fairly synonyms outside of a bit nuance, maybe "performer" is just not necessary.
performer, defn: a person who entertains an audience.

I personally rather like "entertainment personality", which eijiro also has, as in "tv personality" "radio personality", "youtube personality" etc. But this seems to not be as commonly used. Well, I'll suggest it, and you can trim it. Sandwiching "celebrity" between two "entertain" glosses helps show that President Obama is not a 芸能人, even if he is a celebrity. (Otherwise, maybe "celebrity" needs a proviso attached).

The brown rat (Rattus norvegicus), also known as the common rat, street rat, sewer rat, wharf rat, Hanover rat, Norway rat and Norwegian rat, is a widespread species of common rat.

Even here:
https://www.pestworld.org/pest-guide/rodents/norway-rats/
The Norway rat commonly referred to as the street or sewer rat, is believed to be of Asian origin, arriving in the U.S. on ships from other countries in the 1700s.
  Comments:
The lit translation is "gutter rat", so the "street rat" and "sewer rat" given by Wikipedia seem quite appropriate. Looking at yourei results, there's a lot of colloquial dialog, and these seem like the most useful glosses. "Norway Rat" looks potentially useful for a pest-control company translating their website (this is what comes up in English...). Probably not so useful in literature.

https://www.amazon.com/Kuretake-Ink-café-SHIKON-Bottle-Fountain/dp/B0B2ZKC6GT?th=1

I think this is a machine translation:
https://woman.mynavi.jp/kosodate/articles/16482
A traditional Japanese color "紫紺 Shikon-means purple and navy-" is a dark, dark purple color with a hint of navy blue...
The best known example of the "紫紺 shikon" color is the championship flag of the high school baseball tournament in Japan. Every high school baseball player in Japan yearns for the "紫紺 shikon" flag of victory. In addition, "紫紺 shikon" is also the school color of Meiji University, and there is "Shikon song" in the cheering song of Meiji University.
  Comments:
Note: daijs actually offers: 濃い紫色

Anime character described as having 紫紺 eyes.

You might check out this color table, pretty cool. Standardize Japanese Color names(I think this converts shikon to RGB #470F4D, if I've converted the numeric RGB values correctly):
https://colors.japanesewithanime.com/japanese-colors/jis-colors

Here's a flag of this color. Apparently this color on a flag signifies "victory". Sankoku used "ーの勇勝旗" as the example, which is why I thought to look for this.
https://meijinow.jp/meidainews/information/7346

Mercifully, even if I am not particularly adept with colors, I can google "purplish blue" and "bluish purple" and see that this is far from either of those.

I've come across a lot of questionable-ish color glosses here. I've shelved most of them for the moment, because debating color glossing in black-and-white text seems a bit quixotic. (I've considered suggested we throw up RGB values, 紫紺: approx. #470F4D, but in practice many historic colors will cover a range). But this one seems pretty straightforward (and it's a color in common use).

Apparently a mix of murasaki (a very light purple):
https://colors.japanesewithanime.com/japanese-colors/紫-murasaki
and kon (~royal blue):
https://colors.japanesewithanime.com/japanese-colors/紺-kon

In English, I would call the result... (dark) purple. Nothing bluish about it.

Of course, there has to be disagreement, but these are all variations on dark purples:

A neat trick that 累犯 and 初犯 are not する, but 再犯 is, is quite the trick.

sankoku does not give [2], or 初犯者 for that matter. Much like English, maybe, "offender" isn't really as useful as "reoffender".

  Comments:
Possibly [exp].

sankoku gives under 仲間 as a collocation simply as ~入り. No definition or example.

Actually encountered this organically in a story about a teen growing up in Tokyo. Context was surely joining some clique or gang. The previous gloss conceals a rather unusual structure; It's more like "entering into someone's/some-group's friend group or inner-circle", so the context needs to somehow specify *which* "friend group" you are talking about. 仲間 is otherwise floating here. の is not required if it is evident from context, but ngrams show の is included explicitly more than half of the time.

Some quick yourei collocations:
作者を一躍人気作家の仲間入りさせた
王族の仲間入りを果たした
豪商の仲間入りを果たした
純粋培養の仲間入りをしなくてはいけなかった
私自身も亀の仲間入りをした気持になってくる
スターの仲間入りを果たす
高校進学者の仲間入りをする
おれ達の仲間入りをしないんだ?
....
Obviously there are a million of these (1700 yourei results for 仲間入り)

I only looked at sense [3] the last time I edited this entry, but it looks like the other two sense notes are wrong as well.

* Meikyo has 価 on the "price; cost" sense.
* Obunsha has a long 〘使い分け〙 section in which it explains that 価 is associated with monetary sums and 値 is used for abstract merit and worth.
* Sankoku splits 値 and 価 into separate entries and describes 価 as "price; cost."
* GG5 also uses 価 in its example for the "price; cost" sense.

I'm adding [form] tags as well.

* Iwakoku says the "price; cost" sense is 既に古風.
* Shinmeikai describes both of these senses as やや改まった表現.
* Sankoku has a 文 tag both senses.

  Comments:
Gloss is wrong(or at least ambiguous), this is A+B, see 溝[3]. Example below is "deep rift between men and women". Any reasonable context will be comprehensible from the parts to a western reader.

溝がある is a common collocation with very literal interpretation (having gaps, having gutters, having whatever a 溝 can be). It is not usually about men and women (I had to search for 男女 + 溝がある to get an example). We would need to do a fair amount of work to expand this entry so that it doesn't mask the other meanings of 溝.

Also, even in this sense it doesn't seem limited to men and women. Could probably be between boss and workers, siblings, whoever...

The rift between men and women(or as eow glosses "the profound disagreements between"):

男と女の間には深い溝がある!結婚前には必ず夫となる人とこの約束をすべき!?

Maybe this would be a better term to have:

https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/c4802d960781d9ba29f84ff9701ab5d34ef2bb5b

Seems from my two examples(the first two I found) that the structure is larger:
AとBの間に溝がある

It would be nice if jmdict tackled these, but we generally do not.
