Refs: | The smaller kokugos and JEs emphasize the "object/complain" sense. The "speak/say" sense seems to be the original / literal meaning. I think the refs only mention it for that reason. Obunsha has it tagged as 古. The third sense seems archaic. We already have a separate entry for a derived expression (物申). I changed the PoS to [int] because the kokugos describe it as "言葉," i.e. you would shout "物申す" at someone's door to get their attention.

Comments: | Thank you for the context. The Japanese Wikipedia and Heibonsha Encyclopedia's entries define 「人狐」 (read にんこ/ひとぎつね) as an evil spirit that possesses humans rather than as a person that turns into a fox. I am unable to find references supporting established usage of this term as "werefox". Even two resources which often contain jargon related to gaming and pop culture, dic.pixiv.net and dic.nicovideo.jp, come up empty. Unless references can show otherwise, this currently only seems to be a neologism limited to these franchises, coined as a calque by their English–Japanese translators. |

Comments: | This character is used in Western fantasy settings, specifically in Medieval fantasy, and when a character like this is translated into Japanese, the term used is "人狐". You see this in "Magic the Gathering", "Dungeons & Dragons", RPG video games, etc. Magic the Gathering has a card called "Werefox Bodyguard" which is translated into Japanese as "人狐のボディガード" with the hiragana reading "じんこ". |

Comments: | My reasoning for the second sense was that ある is acting as an auxiliary verb (attaching to a noun or stem), but since it's an inflected form and not the dictionary form we would just use [aux] instead of [aux-v]. I wasn't sure about the first sense. I was reluctant about [exp] because we're not defining it as an independent clause (although I guess in principle it could function as one). But now I see we're using [exp] for other imperative verb inflections (でありなさい, ください, なさいませ) that aren't independent clauses either. |
