sankoku:意識不明の重体(critical state of unconsciousness, the 体重 itself is not unconscious), reverso, image search

This will be glossed as "unconscious" 95% of the time, but also: 意識不明に陥る

eijiro has an extensive list of collocations for unconscious humans.

Does not appear to mean "senselessness" (i.e. a senseless act), but if so, would be a second sense.

Does not appear to be metaphorical, i.e "unconsciously...". This has been unclear to me for years, hence "(physical)."

Interestingly, sankoku misidentifies as adj-na, perhaps influenced by 不明. This is a weird term. It feels weird to think this could be a noun at all, but it seems to be...

That said, I don't necessarily object to reversing to [adj-no,n] and glossing as
(physically) unconscious

Most *不明 terms do this, but I am not sure with this one.

wordreference enters this under "unconsciousness" as well, though it is a bare bones entry.

reverso returns:
Katsumi (name) :64
self control: 0
self denial: 0
self mastery: 1, as: セルフマスタリー(克己)

self-mastery might not be a bad gloss, but it's hard to confirm that. I doubt "self-denial" is the intention of the school motto.

Related to 自制 (eijiro's gloss for self-mastery), but the terms are related:
https://reibuncnt.jp/26141#toc2

and:
https://eow.alc.co.jp/search?q=克己
克己心がある
be master of oneself

Wikipedia page on the xref for self-denial, 自己否定, uses this term as part of a definition/explanation:
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/自己否定
自己否定とは、我慢し、自粛し、克己することであり[3]、自分以外の存在のために自分の楽しみや欲望、利益をあきらめる自己犠牲・献身であり、自分以外の存在のために試練を受け、辛い目にあったりすることである[9]。

google glosses as "Self-denial means patience, self-restraint, and self-mastery"
  Comments:
Recommend removing stats([news1] at least). This shows up as "common", but this appears to be a common only as a name(hence news1).

Google results are names. News results are names, plus some 克己心 sprinkled in. Book results are books whose author's name includes "克己".

I don't think this is [adj-no]. One high の ngram is "克己のお気楽な日々	1356". But google reveals a longer phrase: "川口克己のお気楽な日々"/. Other (rare) uses are more like "pertaining to...".

I think "self-mastery" might be a better gloss(see some refs). "self-denial", in English, has a nuance of altruism (denial of one's self for the benefit of others) that I don't think applies here. Even though this is about "denying one's own desires for one's own betterment" (which is the definition self-mastery).

self-mastery is probably better for the high school slogan too, or at least "self-discipline/self-control".

Japanese washing machines have 脱水 and --capable enough machine required-- 乾燥 functions. WWWJDIC provides "dehydration" for both entries, and that could be more detailed. 脱水 is spinning, and 乾燥 is hot air drying (in a machine, tumbling; in a drying cabinet or Standard Unit Bath functioning like a cabinet, without tumbling).

Not sure if 'national action' is appropriate here. It sounds pretty nationalist (and in fact the first Google search result is a neo-Nazi group), while 国家作用 seems to be used to refer to actual actions taken by the government, not by the nation as a socio-cultural entity.
It's also used to refer to NAPs which are "an important process to aid States in their implementation of the United Nations Guiding Principles", which seems too specific to be useful.
