When used between peers, it usually isn't derogatory. I don't think we can concisely explain the nuances of お前 in a usage note. Depending on who you're speaking to, it can either be rude, condescending or just informal.
Sense 2 is a noun, not a pronoun.
I think 御前 should be visible. The kanji is shared with ごぜん and it might cause confusion if 御前 is used with this this meaning but only appears on the ごぜん entry.

Robin noted on entry 2858924 that the term "sheet pile" can refer to many different materials (timber, steel, concrete) in English.

>> That's precisely my point. lit glosses are supposed to be literal translations *of the Japanese*

No.
"lit gloss"es are supposed to be literal translations.
There is no good reason to insist, that it must specifically be from Japanese. I do not, for the life of me, understand why you insist that it must be.

>> "the weak are meat the strong do eat" doesn’t even agree with 弱肉強食's part of speech.

Not entirely, no, but it's about as close as you can get, to a literal translation. (there is, pretty much, no such thing as a perfect translation. Regardless of translation type)

What you're defining as "literal translation", is not really literal translation.
It is...
I'd like to say glosses, but given how that word is used here...
I tried looking up a more specific term for it, and found this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interlinear_gloss
("interlinear" would seems to make it needlessly narrow, but what is described in the article perfectly reflects what I'm referring to)
...which is very different, to the concept of literal translation.

Essentially, what you are talking about, are glosses, in the proper sense of the word.
The use of "gloss", in JMDict, is not, I'd argue, strictly accurate, though I suppose it could be argued to be a wider sense of the word.
Glosses (in the narrower sense) are not translations nor definitions.
Those three are very different, though clearly related (when describing things, between languages), concepts.

>> It's not consistent with how we use lit glosses on all non-yoji entries.

Yes it is.
Just _claiming_ that they are not consistent, not/less useful, or in any other way worse, isn't evidence that they are.
You need to present some argument/evidence.

>> The same goes for translations of the component characters.

It is completely unclear, what that is supposed to mean.

>> I don't think a gloss like "one time, one meeting" is useful.

I absolutely think it is, and think that it is as useful, as any other literal translation, in JMDict.
How/why do you think that it isn't?

Nothing like Stephen Kraus' argument, was stated before, so the re-addition of the lit gloss, was still perfectly justified.
Stephen Kraus' argument is a decent argument against a lit gloss, in this instance.

I'd argue, however, that the only gloss that isn't that dissimilar to a literal gloss, is the last one.
The "the weak become the victim of the strong" one
...and I don't think that one, is really all that accurate. (it's meaning is too specific/strict/narrow, to describe the meaning of the idiom. It's closer to the literal meaning, which is more narrow, but...)
It seems more like a very contrived attempt at a gloss that is similar to the literal meaning.

Thus, it is better to just remove it.
...which leaves a situation, where a lit gloss would seem to be fully justified, by Stephen Kraus' standard.

I don't think it makes sense to have a separate sense for sperm based on those two terms. Listed as sense 2 in スーパー大辞林, sense 1 in GG5. GG5 says "archetypal scene [image]", Daijirin "変化する以前の懐しい風景". A common collocation (and also an example in both dictionaries) is 日本の原風景. I use "original scenery; unspoiled landscape", because "archetypal scene" hints at something like a scene from Oedipus rather than 原風景. Both"original scenery" and "unspoiled landscape" are also actually used as translations https://context.reverso.net/translation/japanese-english/原風景

My impression is that sense #2 is actually much more common. Some examples of common collocations from Google Ngrams:
原風景	181888

日本の原風景	52416
日本人の原風景	4109
沖縄の原風景	1979
ふるさとの原風景	1736

Read in article.

daijr states that this is from “primal scene”, which is in turn from German “Urszene”, though in Japanese it’s used more for nostalgic childhood memories of Japanese, not witnessing sex (between one’s parents).

  Comments:
Multiple dictionaries have dedicated entries for describing the deck's location and physical features. Those entries are followed by an explanation of the full idiom. So if we're okay with appealing to their collective judgement, this seems to be a useful entry.

The literal gloss on the linked idiom didn't make sense to me. I've seen photos and depictions of the temple, but I wasn't aware it was named Kiyomizu. I would bet that many other users also aren't aware.

The N-grams posted above suggest that 「清水の舞台から」 is often used by itself as an abbreviated reference to the full idiom or with expressions other than 飛び降りる. I think having this stand-alone entry would be useful for users who come across those variant forms.

I think it's also important that there's nothing about 舞台 that implies "verdana" or any sort of high altitude deck. The expression "清水の舞台" itself doesn't convey its most notable feature.

I don't think the "(located on a steep hillside overlooking Kyoto)" is needed. In fact I doubt this is needed as an entry.
(FWIW the 清水 is probably my favourite place in Japan.)

You're right, 'hot prowl burglary' definitely seems like a fit.

Yeah, I think 'home invasion' is too broad to really apply here and as far as I can see requires a violent intent not implied by 居空き (see the Merriam-Webster definition, laws seem to vary from state to state though). Also, it's personally not what I would imagine reading 居空き, but I'm not American nor too familiar with the subject.

'home invasion' as a legal concept also doesn't seem to have much currency outside of the US. I agree it might be too broad in meaning to describe 居空き.

The meaning of "intent" in that wiki article is a bit tricky. If I point a gun at you and demand your money, I still legally have "violent intent" even if I never truly had intent in my mind to shoot. I think that's the kind of intent the quote is describing. If you break into a home where people are present, the implication is that you're ready to use force even if you want to remain undetected.

'hot prowl burglary' still seems like it fits well to me, but it's another (possibly obscure) Americanism.

Anyway, I don't have any objections to these glosses. They're pretty much what GG5 has.
3. A* 2023-10-02 20:20:03  Shabadaba Doo <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
A more direct equivalent of home invasion would be 住居侵入罪, 居空き implies that the objective is just to steal.
From the Wikipedia page: "Home invasion differs from burglary in that its perpetrators have a violent intent apart from the unlawful entry itself, specific or general, much the same way as aggravated robbery—personally taking from someone by force—is differentiated from mere larceny (theft alone)." It has connotations that I don't think 居空き has.
