Recommend merging with 創成期(see comments there). They shouldn't mean the same thing (創世 = creation of the world), but in practice it appears that they do.

To the extent that 創世期 sometimes means "the period of the creation of the world", this is just A+B, and context will sort that out (you can stick 期 to anything).

処分 = "punishment" nuance here,I think. it is the example in sankoku's 退学 entry. On reverso, 退学 is predominantly [1], 退学処分 is unambiguous.

sankoku does not give [3] at all, says explicitly 途中でやめ. Wikipedia also says 卒業・修了を待たずに学校を途中でやめること

[3] seems like it would be an uncommon usage, given the nuance involved in [1] and [2]. Also, dropped from modern dictionary (sankoku). It's obviously literally correct for A+B reasons, 退+学, but unlikely to be common in this day and age. (marking [rare] or [hist] or [dated] explains that 退学 is not as ambiguous as the 3 senses might otherwise indicate).

(summary: Japanese woman acts like "ふんいき" is the "proper" pronunciation, then finds that she actually says ふいーき when speaking naturally)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saidi3VDt2w

ふんいき	26723	32.5%
ふいんき	55396	67.4% <-- this is an absurdly high occurrence as a *written* "mistake"
ふいーき	42	0.1%

sankoku: ふいんき「雰囲気」 「ふんいき」のあやまり
and, under the proper 雰囲気 entry: "「ふいんき」はあやまり"
  Comments:
Any chance of a [note], something like
[note: "often pronounced ふいんき in spoken form"] under [1]?

Such a note might be an exception here, but this term is actually exceptional. The term may be *the* example of a word-in-transformation in Japanese.

I was *taught* to say "hwinki", in Japan, in a Japanese classroom, by a late-20s/early-30s Japanese teacher. The impression was that your speech would sound a bit stilted if you tried to say huniki. (perhaps like "whatcha doin?"/ "what are you doing")

  Comments:
Even for search-only forms, if the counts are <1000 and <0.1%, it's probably not worth adding. No harm in having it but I wouldn't have bothered with ふいん気.

O-bokashi (wide gradation) is a gradual shading over a wide area. To achieve this, the technique of the standard bokashi is repeated a number of times, each time narrowing the space to be shaded.

  Comments:
Image search for "ぼかし" is a lot of blurred stuff.

Note: ぼかし袴 returns images of hakama with a clear gradient effect.

"bokashi", somewhat like "bokeh", seems to have been imported into English in some circles, both as a composting technique and as an art style. If I had a nickel for every website that said:
Bokashi (ぼかし) is Japanese for "shading off" or "gradation."
I'd have a lot of nickels. Usually these are sites about composting.

Most of the terms in one reverso match:
2ぼかし量を変更する グラデーション領域内のぼかし(グラデーション)の幅を調節できます。
To change the amount of blur You can adjust the width of the blur (gradient) of the gradation in the area.

========== Note: [1] and [2] may be of no real relation:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokashi_(horticulture)
Nomenclature
The name bokashi is transliterated from spoken Japanese (ぼかし). However, Japanese-English dictionaries give the word an older artistic meaning: "shading or gradation" of images – especially applied to woodblock prints.[1][2] This later extended to mean pixellation or fogging in censored photographs. Therefore, its application to fermented organic matter is of uncertain origin; if both uses are related, unifying concepts may be "alteration" or "fading away".

Splitting sense 1.
らんる only has the first two meanings. It's also marked as〔文〕in meikyo and sankoku. I'll split it out into a separate entry.
We wouldn't usually put adj-f and adj-na together but I think it's appropriate here. Daijr has a 形動 sense but it typically appears directly before the noun. Sankoku has a "造語成分" sense for this usage.
We don't typically use the gikun tag when the entry only has one reading but maybe we should. This is a discussion for GitHub but it might be better if [gikun] went on the kanji, not the reading, so that we're more like the kokugos. We would no longer be able to merge gikun/jukujikun readings with other readings but I think I prefer that approach.

"ichi2" used not to rate a P in the edict edition. For years I've changed ichi1 to ichi2 when the term or form was obviously uncommon. There are about 100 of them.
The old ichi/news/spec tagging is a mess, and sorely needs revising.
4. A* 2023-10-12 23:59:54  Robin Scott <...address hidden...>

I'm not sure what the reason for the downgrade is. We don't usually amend/drop (non-spec) freq tags unless there's an obvious error in the data. They're not based on Google n-grams. Plenty of ichi1-tagged terms have fewer n-grams than this.
This doesn't meet the spec1/spec2 threshold.

I don't mind if this one goes.
Jisho.org has an issue with deletions. I generate a daily list of deleted entries and Kim periodically does a cull. He's working on an NG version which won't have this problem.
4. A* 2023-10-10 17:11:28  Stephen Kraus <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
I don't disagree with that in principle, but I want to note that
at least one app which updates daily does not remove entries
that get deleted in JMdict. 勁卒 is still visible at jisho.org
even though its entry for JMdict says it's using the
2023-10-10 data.

It might not be a bad idea to allow these apps to update the
entries with [arch] tags before we delete them.

I didn't realize eijiro had "early days" on 創世期 as well. A search for:

gives 5 hits, all used like 創成期 or 創生期. For example, one is on the establishment of the Rolex watch company.
(創成期 gives >100 actual results, 創生期 13 actual results)

[iK] or [sK], I don't get the vibe that it's a good practice to use 創世期, in spite of the ngram occurrence. A lot of potential confusion with 創成期;創生期 ad 創世・創世記(the creation of the world/the Book of Genesis). But then again, perhaps it's not confusion, but deliberate.

Maybe we can't [iK] though... I leave it to you

創生期
読み方:そうせいき
物事が初めて生じた時期。当初。「成立」に焦点を置く場合は「創成期」の表記も用いられる。

This is the example given in weblio, a wikipedia section header identifying the initial stage of adult video games:
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/アダルトゲーム
創生期(1980年代) <-- the 1980s "early period" seems like a fine gloss.

https://eow.alc.co.jp/search?q=創成期
会社の創成期に
during the company's early days
  Comments:
実用日本語表現辞典 puts 創成期 as a variant of 創生期, with a nuance of "founding". 創成期 wins on ngrams, probably because things get founded more than created randomly. But 創生期 may actually be more general.

"early days" popped up in eijiro (the only gloss it has, on 創成期). This formulation also shows up in reverso here-and-there, and seems like a pretty natural equivalent to me. Also clarifies the nuance of the whole term.

As you might imagine, the glosses for 創生期 are more "creation"-heavy... These kanji are not completely interchangeable, but I don't know if we want *4* entries for そうせいき

If it was compositional, you'd be able to figure out what it was without the explanation in parenthesis, but "breast tent" on its own doesn't make sense. We already have 乳袋, which is in デジタル大辞泉.

I agree with Stephen. It seems that "glycemia" is sometimes used as a shorthand for "hyperglycemia" but the same can't be said for 血糖症.

  Comments:
None of these papers were written by Japanese authors and the English text appears to be machine translated. The hpcr.jp links have "translated by Google" icons at the bottom of the pages.

The "Life Sciences/Bio-Med" dictionary on WWWJDIC returns "血糖正常" and "正常血糖" for "normoglycemic," not "正常血糖症" as used in the links above.

  Comments:
The counts for 血糖症 are always almost exactly equal to the sum of the 〈高/低/過〉 prefixed counts.
It looks like the counts for 血糖症 are all false positives.

I get the impression that the J-Es incorrectly extrapolated from "低血糖症 = hypoglycemia" to "低 = hypo, 血糖症 = glycemia"

It doesn't look like the word glycemia refers to an ailment (症).

As for 血糖症, I'm not sure that it's used as a word by itself. It seems like the n-gram counts are probably from 高血糖症, 低血糖症, etc.
