Refs: | 三省堂国語辞典第七版 This is a college-sized J-J dictionary focused on practical, modern vocabulary. Note that the farming sense, and corresponding kanji, are totally omitted... ばらまく[ばら(*撒く)](*=non-jouyou) 1.バラバラ《まく・まいてあたえる》 2.気前よくお金や品物を使う 3.バラ撒き。「ー政策」 dictionary.goo.ne.jp throws all senses of ばらまく and ばらまき in a single listing, giving kanji forms as ばら‐まき【▽散×蒔き】.撒 is not given(neither is 播, for that matter), and no distinction is made as to which kanji are valid for different definitions. https://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/word/散蒔く/#jn-179923 https://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/word/散蒔き/#jn-179921 |
|
Comments: | 散播き seems to be strictly relegated to farming. Search google, twitter, etc. for: バラマキ政治 by far the most common, especially on google news ばらまき政治 not uncommon ばら撒き政治 not uncommon バラ撒き政治 not uncommon 散蒔き政治 almost non-existent, most likely IME errors Perhaps a more meaningful result can be gleaned from the more-common バラマキ政策, which actually appears in google news for all forms except 散播き・散蒔き。バラマキ政策(525 hits), ばらまき政策(298), ばら撒き政策(56), バラ撒き政策(39), 散蒔き政策(0). There are some hits on twitter for "散蒔き政策", but these seem most likely to be mistakes. A plain google search gives 24 hits total for "散蒔き政策", 0 for 散播き政策, 2 for 散蒔き政治、 but 3 pages of results for 散播き政治, which appear to be driven only be its presence in this database entry. |

Comments: | I'd argue that 498 is very low, and n-grams aren't the only thing to consider. From what I can tell, this is simply a Chinese word that some Japanese supplement companies adopted (in the 90s?) as a way to market the plant as a treatment for certain diseases (like diabetes). And it was evidently a short-lived fad; there are virtually no recent examples of this word anywhere on the web. I don't think it's appropriate for a JE dictionary. |
