The large sign reads :散歩の時も引き綱を, with no reference to リード. The body gives 引き綱(リード), then *switches* to using リード. hmm.
自宅敷地から犬を出すときは、必ず引き綱(リード)をつけて、飼い主が制御できるようにしてください。
なお、伸縮するリードは思わぬ事故につながる恐れがあるため、特に気を付けて制御してください。
  Comments:
I saw a colorful sign in a park today outlining dog-walking rules. At the top was(original punctuation):
引綱(リード)をはなさない
長さ2mまで

This is the first time I've noticed a kanji synonym for the ubiquitous (for dog-owners) リード for keeping dogs on-leash. Looking at google it seems like both 引綱 and 引き綱 are comparatively rare outside of official /city government/administrative contexts(park signs, rules), so I thought that maybe the reference to リード would be useful.

Or rather, if every time an official document uses 引き綱, it explicitly cross-references リード for Japanese readers, maybe it would be appropriate here as well? Not 100% sure about cross-reference rules here, or whether the reverse cross reference might also be warranted.

The google search for to find my references was something like ("犬" "引き綱" ルール). Some results reverse the kanji and kana as リード(引き綱). It's easy to find uses of リード without 引き綱, but not so much the reverse.

For this entry, I think the cross-reference is really only relevant for the "dog lead" sense. I'm not sure if that means the senses in this entry should be split for an unambiguous cross-reference.

Note: I see that jmdict 2856492 Active (id: 2210956) 首縄 also cross-references リード, so maybe this is similar.

散播き seems to be strictly relegated to farming. Search google, twitter, etc. for:
バラマキ政治 by far the most common, especially on google news
ばらまき政治 not uncommon
ばら撒き政治 not uncommon
バラ撒き政治 not uncommon
散蒔き政治 almost non-existent, most likely IME errors

Perhaps a more meaningful result can be gleaned from the more-common バラマキ政策, which actually appears in google news for all forms except 散播き・散蒔き。バラマキ政策(525 hits), ばらまき政策(298), ばら撒き政策(56), バラ撒き政策(39), 散蒔き政策(0).

There are some hits on twitter for "散蒔き政策", but these seem most likely to be mistakes.

A plain google search gives 24 hits total for "散蒔き政策", 0 for 散播き政策, 2 for 散蒔き政治、 but 3 pages of results for 散播き政治, which appear to be driven only be its presence in this database entry.

"種蒔 methods" in comparison, planting seeds in extremely neat rows(not scattering):
https://lovegreen.net/homegarden/p48898/
  Comments:
I commented on "broadcasting" in my previous submission. Clearly this term is used, and in particular "broadcast spreader" seems to be the English name for a tool that scatters seeds around as you move it. I think I was just showing my own ignorance there. It would still be nice to see a more everyday definition, as I am not sure this is a commonly known term among layman gardeners.

I worry that I might be cherry-picking results by seeking out references, but I think I see ばら蒔き pop up in gardening contexts often enough that I don't think it is "rare", at least any more than the verb 蒔く is rare.

I don't know that there is a point in this, but looking for what a "broadcast spreader" might be in Japanese, I found "ばらまき機" (not super common) and some uses of ばら蒔き機. It seems like 散布機 might be the common term for this. I can't find 散布機 and ばらまき in the same context, though I don't know that that is indicative that ばら蒔き cannot be translated as "broadcast".

There seems to be some redundancy in 散蒔く and 蒔く, insofar as the English translation of 蒔く "to sow" already carries a connotation of "to plant by scattering seeds". I am wondering if 蒔く and 種蒔き, both comparatively common, don't actually include such a strong connotation of scattering as "to sow" does in English. Otherwise what does ばら蒔く add to 蒔く?

Oxford "to sow": to plant (seed) by scattering it on or in the earth.
"fill a pot with compost and sow a thin layer of seeds on top"

Webster: : to plant seed for growth especially by scattering

ばらまく[ばら(*撒く)](*=non-jouyou)
1.バラバラ《まく・まいてあたえる》
2.気前よくお金や品物を使う
3.バラ撒き。「ー政策」
  Comments:
When I posted my update to ばらまき政治, I wrote up a whole treatise for this entry, and for ばらまく. I decided to do some more research first, but since this entry seems to be getting some review, and I don't know when I'll be able to survey large numbers of Japanese speakers, I figured I'd post what I have and see what you recommend.

The gist of my thought is that I don't believe that ばら蒔き (or ばら蒔く) should be [rK] in the sense that entries are usually marked [rK]. ばら蒔き may be *comparatively* rare when put next to ばら撒き, but I think that's because ばら撒き has super-common every-day uses(scattering of almost anything, but money, flyers, water, etc. especially), while ばら蒔き seems like a common form for a very uncommon activity, "planting seeds by somewhat randomly scattering them about"(vs. planting in an orderly pattern). My attached references include a very nice 3-minute video where ばら蒔き is demonstrated, including subtitled verb forms like ばら蒔こう。 It seems to me that if you are a Japanese gardener, this kanji form might be quite ordinary, which is why I don't think it is [rK]. (I also have some examples of the full 散蒔き form).

I wasn't sure how this could be resolved. I thought that perhaps some "only" annotations on specific senses might work, though it looks like ばら撒き can be used for seeds, and ばら蒔き can be used metaphorically for gossip, rumors, etc. (just has English can use the farming term "to sow" or the generic term "to spread" in similar metaphorical contexts). But I think that ばら蒔き for flyers/チラシ, for example, is probably not just [rK], but flat-out wrong, and would imply planting the flyers in a field(same for ばらまき政治). (I think the dictionary entries that use 蒔 show the strong farming connotation of this kanji, with 撒 being more versatile)

I've seen cases where two very similar entries exist in this dictionary with the same kana forms but different kanji. I wonder if giving the less-common ばら蒔き its own farming-relating entry would make both entries cleaner. "To plant [seeds] by scattering unevenly", or something. 蒔く, after all, contains the meaning "to plant", "to sow", which 撒く lacks.

In fact, maybe that's the best argument... 撒く and 蒔く are already independent entries. Perhaps ばらまき and ばらまく should mirror that for similar reasons? I know that would take some work... Note that I have one example of ばら蒔き for spreading manure in a field, and that Japanese people clearly do also use ばら撒き in farming contexts.

With regard to the recent change to "broadcast seeding" (or the old "broadcasting" verb for seeds), as a U.S. english speaker that doesn't really communicate a lot, and even with the [uk] annotation, the wikipedia entry for "Broadcast seeding" specifies "over a relatively large area."(industrial farming, I imagine). If my references are any example, you can do ばら蒔き perfectly well in a small flowerpot or home garden, and that might even be the most common usage.

Note: this submission removes [rK] from one entry, just so there would be a diff to reference... But I don't imagine that would really be a solution on its own. I'm not sure what the right approach is here.

Likely derived from ちりばめる, "to mount", since the book signatures are "mounted" on the cover.

Welcome and thank you for the submission.
The formatting is perfect. I'm just dropping the martial arts tag because the term isn't exclusive to that domain.
For future submissions, please try to include references (e.g. dictionaries, web pages) in the box above. It helps the editors determine whether the term is worth adding.

This is my first addition, so apologies if the formatting is wrong! 無段 and 無段者 are both common words in martial arts to refer to people who have not yet attained 初段. While 無段者 refers to a person (as is the direct antonym of 有段者), 無段 by itself refers to the "lack of rank", e.g. Person A is 2段, Person B is 初段, Person C is 無段.
