  Comments:
Came across "絶賛勉強中". It seems the 絶賛 is just adding intensity here. Sense 1 doesn't help at all in understanding this example.

Presumably the JEs don't have sense 1 because it's obvious. We tend to lead with the literal meaning unless it's obscure or archaic. Image results for 水の泡 are mostly bubbles.
On second thought, probably didn't need to add "foam" or "froth".

However the JEs only have the "(coming to) nothing" sense, and all 7 example sentences are for that sense. Can it be moved to the front? I can reindex, but I think modern usage should take prerence.

Aside from how 反宗教主義 is against/anti(反)+religion(宗教)+doctrine(主義), there is also the fact that the Japanese descriptions of what the word means, as well as usage of the word, clearly indicates that it is opposition against religion.
This is completely different and separate from secularism, which is absolutely NOT opposed to religion!

Secularism is merely the idea, that government and laws not be based on religion, and be religion-neutral.
Not give special privileges, nor condemnation, based on religion.
Secularism, being fundamental to religious freedom, could indeed be argued to be PRO-religion!
Firmly anti-theocracy, sure, but any theocracy is anti all religions, other than the state religion.
(secularism can also be seen as neutralising, or "taming", religion, making it not be so harmful or influential …but that's beside the point!)

Googling for の大杉 brings up lots of "Great Cedar of XX" sites. We have 20+ in JMnedict, e.g. 熊野神社の大スギ. We could:
(a) make them "Great Cedar of the Kumano Shrine", etc.
(b) add an entry like this and remove the ...の大スギ entries.
(c) simply zap the ...の大スギ entries and let people work it out for themselves.
Suggestions welcome.
