Comments: | I'll do this split. The only ref with 才 for sense 1 is ルミナス, but Daiajirin says it's used "俗に" for 歳. The major problem with the split is it upsets the linking of example sentences, as those with 才(さい) as the linking data will attach to both entries. There are 5 sentences for the ability; gift, etc. sense. I guess that can't be helped. |

I've done a bit of Googling looking for cases where it's used in the same contexts as 歯科医, etc. but no success. |

Comments: | From personal observation I know that people use "歯科" colloquially like "歯医者", perhaps simply as a shortened form of "歯科医" or "歯科医院". Is there a way to account for this in the dictionary? I don't know, however, if this colloquialism is specific to Okinawa or more widely obervable. |

Comments: | “Main street” may cause confusion: I've experienced people interpreting that as “Main Street” – i.e. the singular most “important” street of a town, which is how all the English dictionaries I referenced defines the term. The word, however, just refers to *a* sizable non-alleyway street. I suspect the initial entry of “main street” might have come from how it's unclear whether dictionaries' typical short descriptions (e.g. “市街の主要な道路”) leave it ambiguous whether it's indefinite (“a 主要な道路”) or definite (“the 主要な道路”). The term “the street” here is in the sense used in, say, the sentence “He was busking in the street.”, whereas “the streets” is as in “Nothing says ‘opulent’ like the streets of Ginza.” |

Comments: | It could, but I think it really needs case-by-case consideration. For example, we probably wouldn't add 詠み手 as an sK form to 読み手; they overlap in one sense and we have xrefs in place. OTOH, adding 気団 to the 既男 entry would be OK. There are about 100 entries with "also written" in them - you can see them by using those words as a lookup key in WWWJDIC. I'll close this to lock in this edit, then reopen it for consideration/comment. |
