Comments: | I don't think we can read too much into hit counts because in English you wouldn't usually use "offline" at all to refer to these sorts of gatherings. You'd just say "meetup", "get-together", etc. I'm not convinced that "offline meeting" is a common term for this (even after looking through tweets and other online results - most of them are not referring to オフ会, and those that are are typically written by non-native speakers). Compare Google image results for オフ会 and "offline meeting". They're completely different. "Meetup" clearly dominates. I like "get-together" and "gathering" because they better describe this sort of event. |
