7. | A 2022-06-08 08:36:24 Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
Comments: | It's not that I rather we didn't add [rK] to the 御犬舎 in "ご犬舎;御犬舎"; it's more that it should be rather obvious that the ご form is the common one, and hence the signal in the [rK] is a bit wasted. |
|
6. | A* 2022-06-02 22:01:08 Stephen Kraus <...address hidden...>
Comments: | There are some entries in which 御 doesn't make the form [rK] (ご飯:御飯 seems to be 90%:10%). It's a bit of a stretch, but I don't think having this metadata is completely without value. If nothing else, I think it's good (for the sake of our mental overhead) to keep rules and categories consistent with as few exceptions as possible. I wasn't planning on hunting down all of the [rK] 御 forms; I usually just submit edits for terms as I come across them in real usage. It only takes me a few seconds to grab the n-gram counts and paste them here, so it's no burden on my part. But if the editors would rather that I not submit edits which only contain this information, then I will respect that. Please let me know. |
|
5. | A 2022-06-02 11:00:34 Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
Comments: | I agree. No harm tagging them, but probably not worth the effort. |
|
4. | A* 2022-06-02 08:47:10 Marcus Richert <...address hidden...>
Comments: | There's nothing inherently wrong with marking 御- and -無い forms as rK, but I feel it's a little pointless. The original idea I had when I suggested it was mostly for it to be a study aid, to inform users they don't really need to bother remembering these kanji to feel they've "mastered" the word. When it comes to 御- and -無い, the kanji are common enough that everyone but the earliest beginners should be aware of them, and the usage of them is completely standard. |

Comments: | I don't think we can read too much into hit counts because in English you wouldn't usually use "offline" at all to refer to these sorts of gatherings. You'd just say "meetup", "get-together", etc. I'm not convinced that "offline meeting" is a common term for this (even after looking through tweets and other online results - most of them are not referring to オフ会, and those that are are typically written by non-native speakers). Compare Google image results for オフ会 and "offline meeting". They're completely different. "Meetup" clearly dominates. I like "get-together" and "gathering" because they better describe this sort of event. |

Comments: | I don't think it's needed. Too obvious. I'm not sure if adv should be used for words like 戦中. It's adverbial in the sense that it can be used as a topic without "は" or "には" (e.g. "戦中、多くの犠牲...") but you can't say things like "戦中書かれた本". |
