daij have the first two senses, but I think there's a third, which I think daijs' example for its sense 2 is actually an example of:

in English, you can't really translate this as "respect for human life is an important condition". An important condition for what? 
Daijs specifies that this "成立・存在の根本となる条件" is specifically for "あるもの" so I don't think you can really leave that part
