Comments: | We do, but German and French use the Latin script natively. "kimch'i" is just one of several romanisations of 김치. In Yale Romanization it's "kimchi". In Revised Romanization it's "gimchi". As long of one of these romanisations is used as a gloss, I don't think we need to repeat it in the lsrc tag. |
|
11. | A* 2022-06-18 23:28:53 Marcus Richert | |
Comments: | But we normally include capitalized German nouns in the lsrc even when the gloss is the same, don't we? and French when there's more accents. |

Comments: | but "Korean" plays the same role in "Korean person" as in "Korean national" - if it can refer to both Koreas in "... person", can't it in "... national" too? I feel the citizenship part is very important. This is often the only way these people really are Korean - by citizenship. Linguistically, culturally, they're often entirely Japanese. Some are not even fully ethnically Korean but half-Japanese but still "Zainichi Korean" by virtue of their passport. |

Refs: | daij have the first two senses, but I think there's a third, which I think daijs' example for its sense 2 is actually an example of: "2 あるものの、成立・存在の根本となる条件。「人命尊重が大前提だ」" in English, you can't really translate this as "respect for human life is an important condition". An important condition for what? Daijs specifies that this "成立・存在の根本となる条件" is specifically for "あるもの" so I don't think you can really leave that part out. Same thing with the usage here: https://www.facebook.com/ppkyoto/posts/937243033133944 picture from a sign in a temple garden reading: "苔もいきものです。大事にしましょう", with a caption by the person posting the photo: "これが大前提です。" Another example: https://twitter.com/into__the_void/status/1065167741756297217 "落書きはいけません…という大前提はあったとしても、描かれた場所と内容によっては特別な意味を持ってしまうものもある。" The meaning is an even more generalized version of sense 2, which in itself is probably a more generalized version of sense 3. |

Comments: | This seems to be the only entry with ~ (0xff5e; Fullwidth Tilde; Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms Block) in the reading. We have two entries (2147960, 2730550) with 〜 (0x301c; Wave Dash; CJK Symbols and Punctuation Block) in the readings. I guess we should use the CJK Symbol. |
