Refs: | I don't think that ultra-concise definitions which only technically capture the nuances of a word's usages are going to be the most useful. I know it's not this project's responsibility to be an English dictionary, but there really are lots of students and translators out there who get this one wrong all the time. It's not our fault that they don't think harder about the context in which words are used, but why not nudge them in the right direction? The way in which the word is used in Japanese often wouldn't be considered idiomatic in English, and I don't think it would hurt to draw some attention to that. for example see: https://twitter.com/DarkSoul4242/status/1502535763527086080 |

I do think this entry could use more detail than it did before, though. (saw on a listing for a cafe) |

Readings can vary widely from Amamikyu, Amamikyo, Amamikiyo, Amamiko, Amamiku, Amamigu, Amamichuu, and Amanchuu. |
