The first link above is a manufacturer of silicone rubber and it uses the シリコンゴム spelling. I don't think シリコンゴム needs an ik tag but シリコーンゴム should probably lead. I'd be in favour of a "non-standard" note on the "silicone" sense of シリコン. |

| Refs: | Obviously シリコン and シリコーン are commonly mixed up (just like in ENglish) but the kokugos don't list シリコン as an acceptable substitue for シリコーン. シリコーンゴム but not シリコンゴム is in Daij, Nikk, Shinjirin and Nipp. I don't think シリコン should lead and I think the "silicone" def in the シリコーン entry be tagged as [col] or maybe have a note or something. Or maybe just add シリコン as an ik to the シリコーン entry would be better. |
