In almost all examples in both sources, translating in to 'go' seems to make more sense. For example, in the former reference, the following example is given: 「...お決まりになりましたら、お伺いいたします。」Clearly the waitress in this example is saying 'Once you've decided your order, I'll come back.' rather than 'I'll visit you again.' In fact, these sources even liken 伺う to 参る (and 行く), which means 'come/go' (the only difference being 謙譲語I and 謙譲語II). |
