Comments: | 牛津 would be a pretty odd ateji as 牛 is not read "ox" unless we start writing English in kanji. Also 牛津 is a place/person name in Japanese, so it's probably better as a note. Merging 1034210. |

Comments: | Could be a second gloss on the third sense, but that screws with calling it an abbr of 新型コロナウイルス感染症 not sure what to call this sense 4 an abbr of. コロナ過 is maybe the closest? enwiki has one article for COVID-19 and a separate one for the COVID-19 pandemic. The Japanese articles linked to these are 新型コロナウイルス感染症 (2019年) and 新型コロナウイルス感染症の世界的流行_(2019年-) |

|
Comments: | In common speech the word "surgery" more commonly refers to the act itself than to the field (it can mean either). The word "外科" refers to the field (分野,部門), but not to the act. The single word "surgery" is ambiguous for beginners who don't yet thoroughly understand the kanji "科"; they may see the first and second definitions as being *contrasted* and think the first definition refers to the act. Thus it is better to explicitly specify so as to clearly differentiate the word from 手術 (the act / "operation"). ("Surgery" is built from Greek roots meaning "hand" + "work" just like 手術.) |

At least 2 people in different interviews also pronounced it like this. From this, it seems けいしん is the main reading today, but this isn't yet reflected in the kokugos. We're more agile than them so I think けいしん should lead. |

Comments: | Moving 一位 here from the main 一位 entry. However - none of the kokugos seem to have "一位" for Quercus gilva...? Perhaps it should be split out then? Because the two words are only sharing one kanji, 櫟: 一位 櫟 yew 櫟 赤檮 石櫧 oak mk does lead with 櫟 over 一位 in its yew entry but koj, daij don't even have 櫟(いちい) entries at all, so I think 一位 should lead for the yew. |

Comments: | クヌギ is indeed an oak, but a different one - Quercus acutissima. 櫟/いちい can be both Taxus cuspidata (yew) and Quercus gilva (oak). There's no clean way to represent this mess. I'll see if this change works. Quercus gilva is usually いちい樫/イチイガシ. Only the kokugos have 櫟/いちい with that meaning. |
