  Comments:
This entry seems absurdly rare, but in daijs, so feel free to discard this suggestion with little/no remarks. (I will understand the meaning :)

Instead of an xref, would it be possible to just *add* 進退これ谷まる and 進退維谷まる as [sK] in 進退窮まる? They are entered as exact synonyms anyway. Then if you search for this term you'll get the right answer, at least. No one is going to learn this form from this dictionary and then try to apply it. (or, at least they shouldn't).

Then, if desired, we could [sK] the 谷まる forms without leaving an inconsistency. (or leave them [rK], which I am still fine with).

(Also, note: There is a far-more popular 4-character compound which we don't carry, same kanji, same meaning: しんたいいこく【進退維谷】. It's *extremely* common-looking in Chinese news sources, but not actually so much in Japanese, so I haven't made an effort to add it. Appears in 四字熟語辞典)

A "coming to" sense for 来 was proposed in 2020 but I argued against it as it's a kanwa meaning, not a prefix. My position hasn't changed.
With the obvious exception of 来日, 来[country] terms are quite uncommon, as Japanese people would usually talk about *going* to those countries, not *coming* to them. I don't think we need to add any others.

If JMdict were to be a dictionary for Japanese learners, then we need the individual entries to show readings (cf. 来阪 らいはん).
But if it's a dictionary for translators, then a concise format is ok, though a database of one-kanji abbreviations (阪 はん=大阪 おおさか etc.) is preferable.
3. A* 2022-01-27 20:54:36  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
I wonder if it would be better to extend the 来 entry with a "coming to/visit" sense, rather than add these formations as entries.

This definitely isn't something that is in any way exclusive to this entry. If we're going to change how we do this, it should be across all entries.

It's been our standard forever to use zenkaku alphanumerics but I see your point. Google returns many more hits for 2.5次元 than 2.5次元. For terms like MOX燃料 and 2進数 the Google hits are the same regardless of the character versions used.
We *can* use the plain ISO/Unicode alphanumerics as well, so I'll include them too.

The sources don't use fullwidth for the numerical portion of the word. Is that just a requirement on our end? Not a huge deal, but the spacing between the decimal point looks strange.
