Oxford tags "NASA" as an abbreviation but not "FIFA" (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). "VSOP" is not an abbreviated form of 超長距離干渉計. I can see an argument for tagging sense 2 as abbr, as it's a Japanese-made acronym of a Japanese word. Daijr doesn't describe "CD", "DVD", etc. as abbreviations but does define "JK" as "女子高生の略". |

This is so commonly used that its definition is found in any English dictionary apart from mathematical term. On Japanese side, "株価 加速度的" will find things like "株価の加速度的な上昇".
