Comments: | What I meant was that it's just an example of the breadth of usage of the term, and not grounds for regarding it as quite another sense. |

Comments: | "Interesting, but to me it doesn't assign that meaning to the word アンバサダー." I don't understand what makes you say that? Also in the Friday Digital article linked, that meaning is obviously assigned to アンバサダー. |

Comments: | Interesting, but to me it doesn't assign that meaning to the word アンバサダー. I note that Kenkyusha's EJ doesn't use アンバサダー at all in its entry for "brand ambassador". I'll leave this open; someone else might like to comment. I should propose entries for キャンペーンキャラクター and 広報大使 (we have イメージキャラクター already.) |

Comments: | NN = New Nelson. I added a list of the JE kanwas recently. As I commented: "Note that these are included as examples of the use of kanji and are not necessarily common or topical. Many of the examples in the Nelson dictionaries are quite old and are not really suitable as dictionary entries." I don't mind a Nelson-derived form going into an entry with an "oK" tag, but they shouldn't be the whole basis of an entry. |

Comments: | On balance I don't think we need a second sense. If Daijisen for instance had "また、その人" (instead of just ending with -状態) then sure, I'd assume they had a good case for it, but I'm not really convinced by the examples provided alone (esp. as most of them could be read as 状態 rather than 人) that this is more than just typical Japanese "noun fluidity". |

|
Comments: | For some examples, search "あの老害", or the combination... "老害" "免許" (lots of "take their licenses away" commentaries). Apparently, this can be used as an identifier for specific elders, and in this context is derogatory. Seems like it can be an intensifier for other insults, such as 老害クソババア. Even found a "老害クソ頑固ジジイ". I think this warrants a second sense for the [derog] application. Marked [adj-f] as it seems to grammatically work like "fucking" in English. "老害社長"、老害部長, have plenty of matches, for example. I don't necessarily mean "senile" in the literal sense, though it seems this nuance does apply to 老害. But as [sl][derog], "senile" is a fairly effective term in English for insulting the elderly. あの老害 = "that senile old man" seems about right from what I have seen... ("senile old person" would be a definition, not a gloss, as this is no longer an insult). I see looking back that GG5 specifically gives "(senile)". It seems the implication is probably there, even if impolite. |

Comments: | As we've been discussing the issues (see https://github.com/JMdictProject/JMdictIssues/issues/37), the kokugos often mark terms as nouns more for historical reasons than based on modern usage. We need to establish a threshold to justify "n" tags for 形容動詞, but probably a 1:10 ratio of が/を usage cf な/の usage gets it over the line. As ever, the glosses should match the leading POS tag. |

Refs: | https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_(party_game) - "Mafia, also known as Werewolf, is a social deduction game, created by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986." |

Comments: | OK, I'll drop this and add another sense to the JMdict 人狼 entry. We can argue over the Mafia/Werewolf issue there. |

Comments: | I feel that Mafia and Werewolf are two different, if almost identical games. I don't think that anybody playing the game with werewolf-based roles refers to that game as "Mafia", nor that anybody playing it with mafia-based roles refers to that game as "Werewolf." Also in my (highly anecdotal) experience, Werewolf is the more popular version - though I was first introduced to it as "Mafia" some 20 years ago, I've only come across it as "Werewolf" after that. I agree it's not a single product but more akin to charades. There's a lot of boxed versions of the game with a sea of different names (人狼 SUPER DX from Gentosha, ワンナイト人狼 by a smaller company, コンプレックス人狼 by 株式会社人間, 究極の人狼デラックス by Bezier Games) but all you really need to play the basic version is pen and paper. |

Comments: | I don't think it's the sort of thing that belongs in the names dictionary. It's an activity (like charades). It's not played with any equipment. According to jwiki, it's based on "汝は人狼なりや?" (The Werewolves of Millers Hollow), which *is* a product. |

Comments: | 人狼 is a JMdict entry (2792560). The question really is whether products, games, etc. which are named after things in the main dictionary go here or become a sense there, or both. Do we need to establish a policy? |

Comments: | I think this is should stay in jmdict. It's a game but not a product. More commonly known as "Mafia" in English. |
