I think "madly in love" works well for sense 1, but it's very different from what's in the kokugos. sense 2 isn't great, though.
daijr has しまりなく崩れるさま。だらしがないさま。「孫には―だ」「主将のけがでチームは―になった」
I think separating this daijr definition  into two senses in English makes sense, but "falling down drunk" doesn't cover that 2nd 
example at all.

Or [rare].　Image search for "葷辛類" looks like the meiji-era drawings.  Twitter mentions are in reference to the various stone monuments. 

Seems to be mostly limited to some fanciful stone signposts. "Do not enter if you've defiled yourself, or something like that."  This is what shows up in the ngrams as well. Some historical prohibition on 葷辛 for some reason.
