Refs: | I think Japanese shortcakes are still shortcakes, just that they replace one ingredient with another. enwiki for example: "Strawberry shortcake is a widely known dessert made with shortcake. Sliced strawberries are mixed with sugar and allowed to sit an hour or so, until the strawberries have surrendered a great deal of their juices (macerated). The shortcakes are split and the bottoms are covered with a layer of strawberries, juice, and whipped cream, typically flavored with sugar and vanilla. The top is replaced, and more strawberries and whipped cream are added onto the top. Some convenience versions of shortcake are not made with a shortcake (i.e. biscuit) at all, but instead use a base of sponge cake or sometimes a corn muffin. Japanese-style strawberry shortcakes use a sponge cake base, and are a popular Christmas treat in Japan." I think it's weird to treat it as if the Japanese version is not a shortcake at all considering google image results for [ショートケー キ] and [shortcake -japanese] are so similar. And a "proper" US/UK strawberry shortcake would still be referred to as a ショートケーキ in Japanese, surely. |

Comments: | With that note I'd leave it where it is. It's the first sense in the JEs (and GG5 only has 込む) and in the Tanaka sentences 40 are using 混む and 8 are using 込む but they ALL mean crowded. |
|
13. | A* 2021-07-11 02:52:34 Marcus Richert <...address hidden...> | |
Comments: | If move it down to sense 3, it still comes before the suffixes. I think it's really weird to lead with a meaning that's not at all common for 込む now that 混む has been split out. |

Comments: | I assumed that "Xジェンダー" was a somewhat dated term that will soon be superseded by ノンバイナリー (if it hasn't happened already). I've encountered ノンバイナリー in writing on more than one occasion and I suspect it's the preferred term among LGBT communities in Japan. |

Comments: | What's the point of the xref? I've heard ジェン ダー used in Japanese but never ノンバイナリー so if the intention is for it to be interpreted as "more commonly as", I'm not sure that's correct. |
