I like keeping the terms in the indices complete as it helps identify modifications to the sentences themselves. Around 50-70 sentences get changed each week and I have software that tracks and identifies the changes. The completeness of the indices is central to this.

I think any (non-technical) term that isn't in English dictionaries (or at least widely known) needs a short description.

Aren't we adding a little too many explanations to many glosses recently? Even if you don't know exactly what "hot yoga" is, it's apparent

I don't think スコッチテープ is used as a generic term in Japan. The sites linked above compare the use of "Scotch tape" in the US to the use of セロテープ in Japan.
