Comments: | I don't think "confectioner's card" is used in English (failed to find results, although found a few for "dough scraper card"). The correct term seems to be "dough scraper", and the more common Japanese words seem to be ドレッジ, スケッパー, スクレーパー, so this might be short for ドレッジカード. It's not clear to me that the item that this refers to is also called a 'spatula' in English though. |

Comments: | GG5 splits sense 1 into general sorts of cards, e.g. in a filing system, and greetings cards. It also has a sense for confectioner's card. I have proposed extra senses for them - the 41 example sentences are about evenly split between the first 3 senses. I'll reindex once we've settled on the senses. |

Comments: | Thanks. I've looked through a few. Some get reasonable n-gram counts, but on digging I see things like 竹部 (a surname - たけべ, as are many compounds ending in 部) or 木部 which is a regular term. Cases like 歹部 just don't get counts at all. While it might be best to have all 214, I seriously doubt they are needed or useful. That 部/みずのぶ plainly came from Halpern's kanwa where he probably wanted an example of that use of 部. I agree it's not needed. |

|
Comments: | Thanks (the original submission from 2007, based on Daijr/s, had the "arch" on senses 2 & 3 but the old software moved such tags to sense 1.) I'm proposing a distinct sense for glosses in the GG5 entry, as they don't really match the ones in the kokugos. |
