"Korean people" can refer to Koreans as an ethnic group. I felt it was a more accurate term in this context. But if it's important to mention citizenship, I think this is better.

but "Korean" plays the same role in "Korean person" as in "Korean national" - if it can refer to both Koreas in "... person", can't it in "... national" too? I feel the citizenship part is very important. This is often the only way these people really are Korean - by citizenship. Linguistically, culturally, they're often entirely Japanese. Some are not even fully ethnically Korean but half-Japanese but still "Zainichi Korean" by virtue of their passport.

The JEs all have it, and it's the first gloss in ルミナス. I think it may as well stay.
18. A* 2023-11-26 13:22:31  Marcus Richert <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
Do we need "one's lines" when the first gloss is already "line"? I think the qualifier "one's" can lead to confusion. I'm sure it's correct in that an actor etc. could use it to refer specifically to their lines, but this isn't usage that dominates, it's usually about the lines of a fictional character (as most people just aren't actors).

(I removed the gloss once in 2021 but Robin added it back)

I don't think we want to lose the と-less form, at least not for sense 1. Also, sense 4 isn't an adverb.
I wouldn't object to a ポンと/ポンッと entry if we split out ポン out into a separate entry with just senses 1 and 4, where sense 1 is something like "[adv-to][on-mim] pop; smack; slap;

The JEs are not wrong but they are trying to give natural translations.
The JEs assume you know what the Japanese means already.

It's very rarely that "seem bitter" - unless the context specifically calls for it - would be used over plain "is bitter" in natural English prose.

It's a good idea to be better than the JEs here, even if it makes the glosses awkward.

I don't think that's a great match: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/one-step-at-a-time
"slowly and carefully, doing just a little at a time"

if you look at the kokugos, they define this as doing something "without thinking of the future" and there's a nuance of
being busy (考える余裕がない). so it's almost the exact opposite of doing something "slowly and carefully".
