I'll repeat what I said before. I don't see how this can be tagged as an abbreviation when none of the dictionaries (kokugos or JEs) have an エキストラクト entry.
The etymological notes in the kokugos make it quite clear that エキス is an abbreviation of "extract", not エキストラクト.
By having an abbr tag, we're saying that エキス is the shortened form of エキストラクト, which isn't true.
エキストラクト is also used in Japanese but it came later.

It's irrelevent whether or not the definition is the same as what general public thinks. Terms of a niche within a niche are often misunderstood anyway. People who create (and consume) within a niche should determine the definition. Furthermore, There is another important difference. Lolicon is strictly sexual attracted to females, while pedophilia could be sexual attraction to both sexes, male or female. Lastly, you don't have to be male to be a lolicon, as there are popular (Japanese) female influencers calling themselfs a lolicon.

I asked a native speaker btw what they thought and they said (ことばとして)軽いじゃ軽いけど、ペドファイルじゃペドファイル。 I don't think they're actually considered two different things to most Japanese (outside of the otaku realm), but it might certainly be the case that there's a weaker connotation of "actual child molester" than there is for say ペドファイル.

  Comments:
I'll accept that pedophile/pedophilia are probably accurate glosses, but I note that the JEs avoid that term. I suspect that in Japan there is a view that lolicon and pedophilia are slightly different things, but if you look at the actual definition of pedophilia, they are really the same.
Is there a problem with including "sexual obsession with young girls" in the glosses?

I don't mind "attraction" over "obsession" or "prebubescent" over "young" but I'm not seeing the point of adding rare words like "gynephilic" to secondary glosses (as this meaning is already obvious from the second gloss). It's true a woman could flippantly call herself a "lolicon" despite not being a man but that's true for a lot of gendered language/words and without qualifiers, I don't think anybody would ever assume this word refers to anything but a man.

sexual obsession doesn't make much sense, kokugos tend to use 性愛の対象 which is closer to sexual attraction
using "young girls" (or "very young girls" by gg5) seems pretty euphemistic, kokugos do use 少女 which is ambiguous but nobody would use ロリコン for someone attracted to a 17yo girl. + they often do add 幼女 to be more clear, so prepubescent is a better rendering in my opinion.
"gynephilic" (or a synonym) is needed because "pedophile" alone implies that ロリコン could be someone sexually attracted to prepubescent boys as well which is not the case.
i guess "esp. male" is the most controversial change. i think this image of ロリコン is due to the male-dominated otaku culture (and most pedophiles being male). it's fair to include it, but it doesn't seem *necessary* to be a ロリコン which is probably why many kokugos don't mention it all.
22. A* 2023-10-12 00:27:06  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
Given the extensive discussion last year about edits to this entry, I think case should be made for these proposed changes. Justification for the inclusion of gynephilic is needed.

Robin in a forked thread: I saw that Wiktionary tagged "daimio" as dated so I figured we didn't need it. (It's a JE entry, after all.) But I agree that we should have "daimyo". The macron version might not be necessary.
I'm happy to drop the ō in this case. I guess we need a policy.

I've been doing a bit of o/ou->ō conversion lately, and I may have been a bit over-enthusiastic. There are cases, like Tokyo, where it's a bit strong to always have Tōkyō.
I see the "daimyo" entry in the Shorter OED explains it's from dai + myō (with macron).
WRT "daimio", I think it's a historical oddity. I don't see the need to have it in glosses.
4. A* 2020-02-07 20:43:49  Rene Malenfant <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
just to point out that "daimyo" (no macron) and "daimio" are both in every english dictionary i have access to at the moment (M-W, dictionary.com, the ODE built into macos). i think they should both remain as they were. e.g., the entry for 東京 is "Tokyo", not "Tōkyō"

daimyō -> daimyo in all other entries as well

The [abbr] was on the wrong sense - when the entry was revised in 2008 the formatting software had a bug.

Vote to remove [3], unless there is some special support out there. This is just saying that somewhere, at some point in time, "Goguryeo " was used as shorthand for "Goguryeo dog". Which to be fair, I'm sure it was if there was sufficient context.

Neither the kanji 犬 nor 獅子 appear anywhere in any reference on the kotobank page for 高麗.
https://kotobank.jp/word/高麗-63319

I understand we had a [restr] on 狛, but I can't find evidence for that either.
Here's the nikk page, also no mention. こま【高麗・狛】
https://kotobank.jp/word/高麗・狛-269235

I just added 高麗犬 to 狛犬 as [oK]. Seems the [restr] we had here is probably invalid, but I suspect there may be a restriction on the pronunciation. (こまonly?)

It looked very odd to see that there were three types of stone lion-dogs: 獅子, 狛犬, and 高麗. Well, the last is just 高麗犬=狛犬 after all...

They do look similar, but no literate native speaker would have any trouble identifying which is which. I mean, 蜜 has 虫 in it. If 蜜 and 密 had similar or related meanings, I could believe that people were using 蜜 intentionally, but that's not the case. I still don't think it's needed.
