Well, at least I don't think of "sorry" and "you're welcome" as greetings in English. どういたしましておめでとうございますごめんなさいごくろうさまおつかれさま I think my definition helps to make sense of a sentence like: 迷惑をかけておいてなんのあいさつもない。 (It's NOT "He hasn't even offered us a greeting [salutation] after causing us so much trouble.") Actually, there are other aisatsu, such as those used when departing, like いってらっしゃい and おやすみなさい, which still don't match the definition very well. I don't think of them as "greetings", anyway.
