All the J-Es have this as 3 senses (with the ordering of the last two varying):

Well, in the end I guess it's up to you to make an "executive decision" if you think including certain words could hurt the project. We do otoh already
have a ニガー entry. I agree the n-word doesn't really belong here, it's not half as strong as くろんぼ. But I think including "darkie; golliwog" would
help. We decided after some debate that [ctr] entries should begin with "counter for..." despite them already having the [ctr] tag. One of the
arguments was that people don't look too closely at the tags. If we accept that argument here, it could lead a beginner to think this was a useful
synonym to "黒人", or to somebody called this not realized the negative connotations of the word. (and that's without even getting into all the other
reasons why we try to match register in the first place, like being helpful to translators, etc.)

I have a hard time imagining anybody accusing us of being racist for accurately translating a word that's used in a racist manner.

Odd, maybe, but this is VERY sensitive topic in many parts of the Enlish-speaking world. The last thing I want is knee-jerk censorship and pillorying of this whole project because of an attempt to match register. I'm afraid MILF is/was not in the same league as this one.

This entry is becoming quite unwieldy.
I think we can merge senses 4 and 5. The "opinion" glosses are somewhat awkward, in my view. Also, I'm not sure that usage is ever adjectival. Might be better to drop "esp."
I don't think sense 3 should be moved to a separate 的な entry as we'd have to copy over senses 1 and 2 as well.

"dick" is originally a euphemism too - "Ultimately from Dick, pet form of the name Richard. The name Dick came to mean "everyman", whence the word acquired its other meanings." (wiktionary) (though wiktionary also calls "dick" (with the meaning penis) "vulgar")

  Comments:
I've noticed that ナニ (always in katakana) is frequently used in Japanese subtitles of English-language movies/TV shows with the meaning "penis". I asked a native speaker if this is really an established expression (when I first saw it) and they commented it's at least commonly used like this in subtitles.

It's really a subsense of sense 2 but it seems common enough to get its own sense. "masturbation"/"to have sex" don't seem quite as common (and I haven't encountered the word used like that in the wild/in Jp subtitles either)

I considered creating a separate kana-only entry for ナニ but it can be and is of course used with other senses of 何 too and I wouldn't want to direct users looking up the more innocuous use to the wrong entry.

The youtube clip wouldn't run.
https://tachiai.org/2019/10/02/whats-all-the-commotion-part-2-matchmaking/ - "If the gyoji deems the bout to be properly started, he will shout out hakkeyoi. Experienced rikishi who are in doubt if the situation is matta or not (e.g. if the opponent is not properly engaging), will listen for that “hakkeyoi” for a confirmation that they should not let down their guards." and later "If the rikishi go into a stalemate – which usually happens in a yotsu battle, as pushing-thrusting bouts tend to quickly resolve one way or the other, the gyoji will stop the “nokotta” and instead urge them to renew action, by shouting “hakkeyoi” again."
  Comments:
So according to the tachiai.org page it's used to get them going again when they stop AND at the start to get them moving in the first place.
I really don't want to stray far from what all the references are saying. Maybe the extension to the note is enough.

I just picked a random Sumo match to demonstrate that this definition is
fundamentally inadequate. It really doesn’t matter which match you observe,
the Gyoji will shout はっけよい the instant the 立ち合い is successful. In the
initial usage, it has nothing to do with the rikishi becoming motionless. If you
watch this video, or any one of thousands of others, the minute the
combatants make contact without triggering a false start, the Gyoji belts it out.

The full dictionary is called 三省堂国語辞典・第七版 (https://dictionary.sanseido-publ.co.jp/dict/ssd13926).
I access mine through the Monokakido dictionary app. It's a modern JP dictionary similar to Shinmeikai or Meikyou, but it tends to
have slang and modern collocations that other dictionaries sometimes omit.
  Comments:
If we include the relevant senses under 的, then indeed this is unnecessary. My only reasoning for making a separate entry for this
was because the "-wise; in terms of" sense is strictly adverbial with に or には. If we clarify that with a comment in a sense under
的, then that might be fine. I feel it is important to be explicit about this sense because it doesn't really derive nicely from "-
ic/-ive/-al" or "-like", but is used frequently in spoken Japanese.

Which "Sanseido kokugo"? It's not in 大辞林.
  Comments:
I am afraid I'm not sure this entry is needed or appropriate. It all hinges on whether XX的に can't really be understood from the straight 的 entry. Exceptions can be set up as their own entries. We have 私的 as an entry and can perhaps have 気持ち的に too - GG5 has it as a sub-entry.

Sanseido Kokugo has sense 2 defined as such:
〔俗〕〔「-に(は)」の形で〕…として。「わたし的には納得できない」(It's hard for me to accept it / agree)「テレビ的には、悪役がいたほうがいい」(In terms of television, it's better if there's an antagonist)

Another example from the internet:
"他のユーザーさんで、ディーゼルでリッター15キロも届かない方がいらして、私には、この情報が信じられないです。乗り方の問題?もしくは車的にハズレ?1度販売店に相談されては?と思いました。".
This "車的にハズレ" should be interpreted as "was it an unlucky draw car-wise?"
  Comments:
I felt this deserved its own entry to encompass the slang meaning of 的に, which is hard to derive from the glosses "-like; kind of; sort of;" in the definition for 的.
The first sense is meant as a fallback for the non-slang usage of 的に as an adverbial suffix, which is a direct extension of the official use of 的.
The second sense is meant to cover things like 気持ち的に, 私的に, 仕事的に, テレビ的に, 車的に etc.

Not splitting at present.
I hope to get tags for deities and mythological beings, but the "(god)" with help us track these down.

Not sure what tag to use. Is a god a person? Or should it go in the main dictionary?
Is there a source for "El Tor"? Where did "Towle" come from?
By the way, are we splitting entries in jmnedict based on the source word (as in the main dictionary)?

this is in ASCII, but in English, I'm not finding a lot of information about this.
