Comments: | My issue is that the edit removed the contextual information about the sense that I'm sure Robin intended to include. I didn't think it was overly wordy. Without a reason, I don't consider I should approve a change. Resubmit giving reasons and references." Apologies, but doesn't many edits really speak for themselves? I tried to simplify an overly wordy gloss. If you think the original gloss was better, by all means reject the suggestion. |

Comments: | "dick" is originally a euphemism too - "Ultimately from Dick, pet form of the name Richard. The name Dick came to mean "everyman", whence the word acquired its other meanings." Comments: | I've noticed that ナニ (always in katakana) is frequently used in Japanese subtitles of English-language movies/TV shows with the meaning "penis". I asked a native speaker if this is really an established expression (when I first saw it) and they commented it's at least commonly used like this in subtitles. It's really a subsense of sense 2 but it seems common enough to get its own sense. "masturbation"/"to have sex" don't seem quite as common (and I haven't encountered the word used like that in the wild/in Jp subtitles either) I considered creating a separate kana-only entry for ナニ but it can be and is of course used with other senses of 何 too and I wouldn't want to direct users looking up the more innocuous use to the wrong entry. |

Refs: | GG5: 女心と秋の空. A woman is as fickle as autumn weather. | All women are 「inconstant [fickle]. 中辞典: A woman's heart is as fickle as the weather in autumn. Eijiro & Tanaka: A woman is a weathercock. |
|
Comments: | I think it should compare (a) woman to the waether, and not the other way. I like GG5's version. |

Comments: | I'm really just floating this, as it seems to be a way of using the causative form of 触れる that isn't really obvious from the related sense of 触れる ((3) to experience; to come in contact with; to perceive) I guess it can be seen as "to make someone experience", but I wonder if it isn't best to bring it out in its own entry. |
