Yes, odd. My older Daijirin edition doesn't have it. I suspect the n-grams are coming from リンガーハット. Best dropped.

Very odd. "Linger" is not a word I'd ever expert to enter Japanese. I can't find any examples of this usage, and I suspect that very few (if any) of those n-grams hits are for this meaning.
