I discussed this with a Kansai native. I don't think "metropolis" is really right. I've also never heard Tokyo referred to as "み
やこ". If you google "東京はみやこ" the top hits are things like "東京はみやこじゃない", "しかし東京は「みやこ」のような気がしない、 い
まだ「京都」がみやこのような気がするが", "東京は「みやこ」ではない 京都は固有名詞上の「みやこ」である". There's also a lot of
companies/places called "Miyako" something something in Kyoto, 都タクシー、the みやこめっせ conference hall, etc.
I think "Kyoto" could also be a separate sense.

as I understand it, tonoko is a specific type of powder made from clay. It's mainly used for polishing but not exclusively. (for
instance, it's been used traditionally mixed with glue to make karuta heavier)

also apparently used as a filler in kintsugi: "The second filler material used is tonoko – a mixture of melleable (clay and china
clay) and non-kneadable minerals."

《Hiroshima dialect》

I don't know either. I can't see any enthusiasm for keeping or restoring this one. As for the others, I guess we need a proposal and case based around them.

  Comments:
On the other hand... Just heard こぎゃあ on the news, Kyushu (not sure if Kumamoto or Fukuoka) woman in her 90's. こぎゃあ雨が降ってる!
Or at least that's how I'd transcribe what I heard. (it was subtitled in standard Japanese as こんなに, but that's normal of course)
こぎゃあ is in nikk with this meaning but no hits in the ngrams...
Might be worth recording these as あがあ, あぎゃあ,あがい etc., I don't know.
6. D 2020-07-07 01:38:41  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
I think it can be dropped. I've added it to the glossing file.
That 広島弁 page is interesting, but I think the terms are mostly too rare for a general dictionary.

  Comments:
seems fine esp. if additional ways of writing it are added; the question is, is it worth keeping (and are there corresponding entries for そんな and こんな equivalents)
