Comments: | "Abbreviation" and "omission" may be two senses, despite the JE reference. For example, the 天草版伊曽保物語 published by the Jesuits in 1593 begins with a section titled "Esopo ga xogaino monogatari riacu" (Esopoが生涯の物語略). When I came to that page I thought the story of Esopo's life would be "omitted" from the book. But the following text turned out to be a biography of Esopo, and the "riacu" means 大略! |
