I think I'll close it at this stage.
We've had a ゼネラルコントラクター entry since 2005, and it gets ~200 in the n-grams. I see many of those are describing the source of ゼネコン as general contractor accompanied by the katakanan transcription, but a few are freestanding. That said, I can't really make a case for ゼネコン coming from ゼネラルコントラクター. I'll put a link from ゼネコン to here.

"ゼネコンとは、もともとは英単語の「General Contractor(ゼネラル・コントラクター)」が語源となった言葉です。"
  Comments:
The fact that no dictionary has an entry for ゼネラルコントラクター (or even mentions it) suggests that it was never an established term before ゼネコン came into existence.
See how the above site explains the origin of the term. I don't think it's generally considered an abbreviation in Japanese.
12. A* 2020-04-11 05:00:57  Marcus Richert <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
My bad.

I think it'd be easier to just do the xref. I just don't find it very believable that "general contractor" made the jump from English into
Japanese immediately as ゼネコン, and even 百歩譲って assuming it's true, it's such a minor, minor point and I don't see how it'd do any
harm to call this an abbr and x-ref to ゼネラルコントラクター.

[2]
[一] 「ほっかいどう(北海道)」の略。
※思出の記(1900‐01)〈徳富蘆花〉八「新鮮な北海の野に、クラアク教頭の遺風猶存する黌舎に」

there's a type of hanafuda local to Hokkaido that's called 北海花 (quite obscure, but mentioned in hanafuda literature).
There's a university in Sapporo called 北海学園大学 (and I don't think this is a reference to any northern sea)
a defunct newspaper called 北海タイムス
As a noun itself (i.e. outside of (n-)pref use) it's a little obscure, though.

日本語表現文献辞典 does have an "at the most" entry for というところだ/といったところだ. There's also a Tanaka sentence with this meaning: "彼女は多く見ても20歳というところだ。She's at most 20 years old."
DAJJ has an entry for といったところだ, describing it as "an expression used when the speaker wants to give a brief explanation about something". It gives "I would say ~; ~ is how I'd put it" as translations. Also applies to というところだ.
Sense 1 is the most basic meaning but also the hardest to translate. It's used in all sorts of contexts. This was the best I could come up with.

I agree that the first sense is a bit literal and hardly matches any of the 8 Tanaka sentences that use the phrase. I'm not sure the "at the most" in the JLPT page is much better.
I'd be very happy if someone could come up with a better translation. (I often think of this as "so to speak", which actually fits many of the examples.)

Given that sense 1 is usually 3密 and sense 2 is always 三密, I'm not sure these should be merged.
If they are merged, I wouldn't put the new sense first. 3密 isn't much more than a buzzword/slogan at this point. News organisations still put it in quotation marks. Another reason I think it would look better as a separate entry.
I still think it's worth mentioning where the term came from. How about this?

Given that sense 1 is usually 3密 and sense 2 is always 三密, I'm not sure these should be merged.
If they are merged, I wouldn't put the new sense first. 3密 isn't much more than a buzzword/slogan at this point. News organisations still put it in quotation marks. Another reason I think it would look better as a separate entry.
I still think it's worth mentioning where the term came from. How about this?

They do look similar, but no literate native speaker would have any trouble identifying which is which. I mean, 蜜 has 虫 in it. If 蜜 and 密 had similar or related meanings, I could believe that people were using 蜜 intentionally, but that's not the case. I still don't think it's needed.

1) there is no such animal as "udon flour". Udon is thick noodle usually made with wheat flour. Soba is the Japanese name for usually thinner, usually buckwheat noodles.

2) in my experience, there is often conflation of wheat (a grass) and buckwheat (a cover plant). Buckwheat is not wheat. They're completely different kinds of plants.

For that reason, some clarity on this entry seems appropriate. Telling me a noodle is 20% "udon flour" is meaningless unless I happen to believe that udon is always made with
100% wheat flour.

that る is preceded by something from the あ column also make it seem like this is a godan verb.

Also refers to the theatre itself.
There's another more modern sense which I see quite regularly. A couple of examples above.

but contemporary usage of 一字漢語 is pretty difficult to find. i currently use the BCCWJ.
google doesn't allow you to search by regex so i can only search "が悶を", "は悶を", etc.
"が悶を" has ~50 results, but they were mostly non-contemporary texts reproduced online, so i gave this obs

  Comments:
This entry was originally in jmdict, but it is now the only entry in all of jmnedict with a priority tag. The film described by the gloss premiered in 2005, but the wordfreq file from which the [gai1] tags originate (according to the notes in the JMdict file preamble) was compiled in the 1990s.

I thought maybe the term might have been popular in the 1990s for some other reason, but I checked the wordfreq file and don't actually see it in there. It doesn't appear in the search results for "ブーツ", and "キンキー" returns no results.
