| Comments: | 日本語表現文献辞典 does have an "at the most" entry for というところだ/といったところだ. There's also a Tanaka sentence with this meaning: "彼女は多く見ても２０歳というところだ。She's at most 20 years old." DAJJ has an entry for といったところだ, describing it as "an expression used when the speaker wants to give a brief explanation about something". It gives "I would say ~; ~ is how I'd put it" as translations. Also applies to というところだ. Sense 1 is the most basic meaning but also the hardest to translate. It's used in all sorts of contexts. This was the best I could come up with. |

| Comments: | On reflection, I think the "oK" on 啞 is probably appropriate. 啞 is a very rare kanji. It was never in JIS X 0208, but got into JIS X 0212 and was included in JIS X 0213. Shibano's JIS 漢字辞典 simply says it's an old variant of 唖. "oK" really means out-of-date kanji, and this is certainly one. It's not in any of the other kokugo entries for 唖々/唖唖 AFAICT. |
