Comments: | Yes, as I said, I don't think it's actually used in Kansai, even though the dictionaries have it. I've heard a young Osakan (in her late 20's) make fun of her Miyazaki obaachan for using the expression. The hits on Google, outside of the dictionaries, all point to it being a Kyushu thing (though people from other parts of western Japan also say they use it on chiebukuro etc.) |

Refs: | Here's yet another entry, on top of everything I've noted in Note for this term, but for 回忌 in general - yes, the "first" one is the funeral... |
|
Comments: | See notes on 回忌 daijs defn: 「三回忌」に同じ。 I don't know what else to say, this just appears to be objectively incorrect. (At very least, it is missing a common usage). Could do one of those "second anniversary of a death"; "third anniversary of a death" entries... If you see this in the wild, I would *guess* that it is probably the second, and not the third, anniversary. The reason is that the third anniversary is not celebrated. But 三回忌 should probably have been used instead. |
