I saw that Wiktionary tagged "daimio" as dated so I figured we didn't need it. (It's a JE entry, after all.) But I agree that we should have "daimyo". The macron version might not be necessary.

just to point out that "daimyo" (no macron) and "daimio" are both in every english dictionary i have access to at the moment (M-W, dictionary.com, the ODE built into macos).  i think they should both remain as they were.  e.g., the entry for 東京 is "Tokyo", not "Tōkyō"

daimyō -> daimyo in all other entries as well

I've been doing a bit of o/ou->ō conversion lately, and I may have been a bit over-enthusiastic. There are cases, like Tokyo, where it's a bit strong to always have Tōkyō.
I see the "daimyo" entry in the Shorter OED explains it's from dai + myō (with macron).
WRT "daimio", I think it's a historical oddity. I don't see the need to have it in glosses.

I'm certainly seeing hits for these キラキラネーム, but they mostly seem to be pets, toys, manga characters, etc.. I was inclined to wave them through - after all there are quite a lot of dubious scrapings in that name file, and weird kids' names abound in other languages.
However, if we want to push back, that's OK with me. We can ask for real examples rather than accept what's on the page.
