Comments: | I feel that the nuance of "secluding oneself" may be too negative for sense 1. As you say, the focus is on leading a quiet life, and although that may involve secluding oneself, it's not automatically implied. Nothing in the JEs to suggest it either. I think the idea of shutting oneself away is more in line with the "世俗を逃れて山野などに閑居すること" sense. The detail about moving to the country to get away from "wordly things" appears to be what separates it from sense 1 (and makes it archaic). The new first gloss is an improvement. I agree it's worth stressing the "のんびりと暮らすこと" part. |

Inferior appeal and trial courts such as the Federal Circuit Court (like the 9th Circuit over West Coast and Hawaii) are never referred to as “Justices” but as Chief Judge and Associate Judges, despite the fact that most law is actually created in the Circuit Courts and not in the Supreme Court. |

Comments: | Slight revisions: * "Plenty" of ingredients puts the focus on many ingredients, but it seems more that it's "solid" rather than just an oil. * "As-is" usually means you can eat something without further prep or on its own, while the refs emphasize its usage as an おかず. Google Images mainly seems to show it on top of stuff like rice and tofu. |

Comments: | While it's not really an idiom, although that Imidas ref has it as one, poking around the many examples of this indicates that it's usually sense 2, which is not what I'd think from the sum of the parts. I'd like to keep it for that reason, probably with the senses reversed. I think the other sense needs to be kept, but I appreciate the problem with the translation. |
