Comments: | just stating it's an abbreviation used in dictionaries without noting what it abbreviates doesnt really help someone looking up the term also without the explanation in the first referenced entry most learners won't understand what a ku adjective is since googling ku adjective only gives you hits explaining the ku form of normal i-adjectives the second reference is there so you know where the 形 in the abbreviation is from; couldn't find an entry that has both letters of the abbreviation in it (e.g. 形容詞ク活用) side note: someone should probably do the same edit for the 形シク-antry (2733090) |

|
Comments: | Jitsuyo doesn't say it's not a photo, only that it often refers to images that aren't photos of the real thing. It gives photos used in advertising as examples of イメージ画像. There might be two senses here but I don't think it refers specifically to image *files*. In the article above, the イメージ画像 are just Google image results. I think イメージ画像 are always viewed via a digital medium, though. A real-life painting or drawing wouldn't be an イメージ画像 (unless it was scanned). How about this? |

Comments: | 花柳界に残っている言葉である。(explanation referenced above) In the detective television show 電卓刑事, when police question a 芸妓 about an alleged affair she was having with a suspect, she answered (I’m posting the official English subtitles): 芸妓:“Yosaburo Natsume is my customer. He requested me at his table several times. “ 刑事:”is that all?” 芸妓:”Yes. “ 刑事:”So you aren’t in a relationship with him?” 芸妓:”This is police questioning, right?” 刑事:”Yes”. 芸妓:”Then, I must tell you the truth.” 刑事:”Then, you mean…?” 芸妓:”Him and I… aren’t lovers.” 刑事:”What?” 芸妓:”Detectives, are you familiar with the word ukinamouke? ( 浮名儲け flashes on the screen) Ukina means a love rumor between a man and a woman. Even if it’s a lie, the sensual rumor will increase your prestige in town. That’s why we don’t clarify whether it’s true or not. 刑事;”I see. That’s uninamouke, huh?” |

Comments: | There raises the topic of what is a real word. 忍耐弱い isn’t a “real” word according to many Japanese. I don’t know of a dictionary that lists it. And yet... it’s widely used as the antonym to 忍耐強い instead of the proper 気の短い As a word limited to the world of 花柳界, 浮名儲け was never widely used. But for people in 花柳界, it was a “real” word. |
