Comments: | I'm uncomfortable with this edit as I feel it's rather too focused on the specific situation with mahjong, where a chow (which I regard as a type of meld) is not a "win condition". Unless we were to create a mahjong-specific sense, I'd rather the sense was left the way it was, with "meld" still there as a gloss. After all the term is used in other games too. |

Comments: | I'd just like to add that we include "no one"/"nobody" here for the same reason other JE dictionaries do: it's helpful. These are the most common English translations. It's the same with 誰も. "誰も知らない" translates to "no one knows", not "everyone doesn't know". This difference in structure between English and Japanese is not especially difficult to grasp, especially in context. I think excluding these glosses would actually be more confusing to a leaner. |

Comments: | "with neg. verb" is our way of indicating 下に打消の語を伴う as in koj or (…ない) as in gg5 I am restoring the version that was approved by Robin, Jim, and (now) me, which matches what GG5 has. Rather than re-editing an entry approved by three of the editors, this is an issue for the mailing list. The entry for 誰一人 is not the place to relitigate how an entire class of entries is written. |

▶ to make love (euph.) ▶ to have sexual intercourse |
6. | R 2019-09-07 19:57:15 Rene Malenfant <...address hidden...> | |
Refs: | meikyo defines "love scene" as displaying affection 映画・演劇・テレビドラマなどで、情愛を表現する場面。濡れ場。 shinmeikai defines "love scene" as including kissing and embracing 恋人同士が接吻(セツプン)したり 抱擁したり する場面。 |
|
Comments: | i'm not sure what a large number of quotes from random wikipedia pages given without any context is supposed to prove. not knowing the context, it's impossible to determine what 愛を交わす actually refers to in those scenes i agree with Jim that this there is no evidence provided against believing that this a broad term that could include mutual affection through sex or in other ways. and the original ref doesn't even have this as an entry; it's merely used as an example. in OP's follow-up post, it appears as if he/she is possibly confused in the difference between a "love scene" and a "sex scene"? regardless, i see no need of this. in context, the proposed euphemistic meaning can be determined easily from 愛 + 交わす in any case |

Comments: | i agree with Jim. i think it would have to be an iconic place such as Fifth Avenue for this to qualify as an entry. if 二区 is not referring to a *specific* place, then i don't think it really qualifies as a [place] at all. for it to qualify as a [place], you would need a separate [place] sense for each notable instance that we wish to include in the dictionary. but wikipedia has no entry for 二区, suggesting that there is no one [place] that is notable enough to be recorded as 二区. i would suggest deleting this entry entirely, but surely there are a bunch of these other numbered entries in enamdict, and deleting this might result in weird inconsistency... i suggest just rejecting for now. mass deletion of 区s (etc.) can probably be more consistently handled in a batch |
