this isn't being used as a suffix.  it's 〜に近い with the に dropped.  i think the added sense is simply our current sense 5 applied to numbers

i have never heard the word "likeworthy" in my life and it's not in any dictionary i can find.

Paul Blay proposed the split in 2007, quoting a Goo URL that no longer works. I actually think these two sets of meanings are different enough to warrant separation. Sense 1 is something that could happen several times a year, whereas sense 2 can only happen once. I agree it's not a big difference.

gg5 is the only source with two senses.  AFAICT, there is really no difference between these senses, so i don't see why they wouldn't be just one

i still think the pronoun should be in a kana-only アイ entry.  we generally don't give romaji headwords to entries unless they are abbreviations, etc. not full english words.  by violating that here, i think we open a can of worms that would allow romaji headwords for all of the kana entries.  perhaps that's what we want, but it's not currently what we have.  so i think having the pronoun here is inconsistent.
