this isn't being used as a suffix.  it's 〜に近い with the に dropped.  i think the added sense is simply our current sense 5 applied to numbers

adding those headwords makes them searchable, but it also would require the addition of a bunch of restrictions.  i prefer it the way it was.  if those kanji need to be made searchable, we should have separate entries for 錬る/邌る that link here

The paper, online and  CDROM editions of GG5 all have "たまや【霊屋･廟】". Several but not all kanwas have たまや as a reading of 廟.

afaict, 廟[たまや] is in neither of those refs, but perhaps we are looking at different versions?

I agree. But I wonder if we need that sense at all. It's only in daijs, and it doesn't a have PoS. "英語の代名詞で、私の意。" Compare with the entry for ユー: "［代］あなた。きみ。おまえ。"

i still think the pronoun should be in a kana-only アイ entry.  we generally don't give romaji headwords to entries unless they are abbreviations, etc. not full english words.  by violating that here, i think we open a can of worms that would allow romaji headwords for all of the kana entries.  perhaps that's what we want, but it's not currently what we have.  so i think having the pronoun here is inconsistent.
